editor's note
Dear Readers,
I hope the cupid has visited you this month?
well, for me it's all mixed feelings on what
love is perceived as by different people. How
it affects our lives positively and negatively.
I could still go and on but; my focus would be
on the theme " Spousal Love and Support"
In the society today, we encounter a lot of
stories and lifestyles that one might begin to
wonder if couples still see each other as ONE
BODY or One team.
Some have lost sight of the fact that once you
are married, you and your partner have to
support each other. One partner's success
automatically has become the success of the
other. But No! It is now a competition,
bragging rites and all worth not.
I am not pointing fingers here or taking sides,
so let me explain. In a scenario where a
woman brings in the bulk of the cash into the
home and the husband starts feeling "less of a
man" or a woman that makes a lot of money
and forgets that she has to drop her BOSS
LADY cloak at the doorpost of her home and
assume her wifely duties.
Don't get me wrong, you might feel
overwhelmed doing all that BOSS LADY and
WIFE duties, get the required help you and
make sure you oversee everything.
And for Husbands that hate it and clinch at
their women's or wives success. I have a
message for you.
YOUR LOSS! You should be her piper while
she does her belly dancing. Make her look
good, encourage her and show her love and
support. Then watch her conquer the world.
WHAT IS LOVE TO YOU?
love? Some say love is a beautiful thing, others say love is a wonderful feeling and
THE REAL TALK
WITH GIFT COLLINS
Everyone says February is the month of love because of Valentine's Day. So all over
the world, men, women and even transgenders celebrate love. But first what is
some others say love is life, life is everything. I am not disputing any of these
descriptions but if love is all of this, why do we carve out one day Feb 14th to
celebrate it. Why not each and every other day? Why is there a specific day to
celebrate love? You may not know the history behind Valentine's Day but here's a
quick summary. There are two varieties of the Valentine story, one says Valentine
was a saint who went against the wishes of Emperor Claudius to conduct
marriages for couples after getting married was banned
The other version says, he was the first to send a love card and he signed it off with
from your Valentine. I prefer the latter because it's sweeter but it doesn't change
the fact that Saint Valentine was a man who embodied love and willingly
sacrificed himself in celebration of love. To him, love was worth his life.
"love is a wonderful feeling"
So I ask, what is love to you? Love to us at style beat magazine, is you, yes! you, our
amazing readers. Love to me is like a bed of roses with a pillow of thorns, beautiful
yet it can scar you. Love is my little escape route from life hassles, love is my
paradise and as we celebrate this dearly beloved month of love, let's not forget that
love transcends beyond Feb 14th. Let us love each and every day but first, I ask
again, what is love to you?
people around me happy, I love dancing, I am basically a happy child.
years now. We dated for 4 years and have been married for 6. He lights up
CHINAZOM ENYI
GET TO KNOW
It’s not by my strength... God is definitely involved. He gives me the will and might to keep going.
My husband also provides me with a very strong support system. It gets really tough sometimes
to the extent that my mind starts to play tricks on me… whispering to me to give up, but with
prayer and encouragement, I have learned to balance out all aspects of my life.
• How many children do you have?
Two beautiful children
• I can’t stop gushing at this bikini bod right here, How do you do this with your type of job and being
a mum?
I work out at least 4 times a week and try to eat right, I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and I
don’t joke with my sleep.
THE SOFA TALK
ENYI:
• What is the latest collection of your Eyelash line like? What inspired it? And how has your
CHINAZOM
audience accepted it so far?
The latest collections are ‘oge’ and ‘uju’. They are in the dramatic series and have been accepted
excellently. I do make-up for a lot of celebrities that need that extra dramatic look for their photo
shoots and music videos so the demand inspired it.
• What is the perfect breakfast for your family?
Pancakes
• How do you spend your family time?
My husband and I have movie nights, we try to all go out as a family on weekends to picnics, parties
MY HUSBAND...

THE SOFA TALK
CHINAZOM ENYI:
• What does it feel like to move from Nigeria to Kenya? And how long did it take you to fit
into the Kenyan Lifestyle?
I was devastated when my husband told me about the move. I couldn’t imagine leaving my friends,
family and work behind but It didn’t take me long to fit in because I put my mind to ensuring I grew
my beauty brand here and of course I made friends along the way, a lot of which are my clients
• In this social media age would you say the concept of “love, fulfilment and having it all as a Boss
Lady” has been misunderstood?
Well, generally yes. The misconception is usually around what people see as fulfillment, what
their goals are. For some it’s get rich or die trying by any means necessary, for others it’s
finding love and settling down to have a family and for people like me it’s doing what I love
and being famous for it and still being the best mum and wife that I can possibly be. Ladies,
you can be whatever you want to be and do whatever you want to do. Don’t let society
dictate to you. It’s all about dreaming big, setting priorities and grabbing opportunities that
come your way. Your dreams are valid!
STILL BEING THE
...
MUM AND WIFE ...
BEST
PAGE 12 | STYLEBEAT MAGAZINE NIGERIA

THE SOFA TALK
CHINAZOM ENYI:
• How supportive has your husband been towards your dreams? In the Nigerian society,
some men don’t actually want their women to be goal getters or “Boss ladies” what is your
take on that?
My husband is my number 1 fan and biggest critic! He encourages me every single day. There is no
rest for me with him around. He believes I can do anything I set my mind on. With all that belief &
support, I can’t even give up. He is truly a blessing.
• What is your favorite quote? And your advice to young mums like you this Valentine?
If you can think it and believe it, you can do it. For the young mums, you are beautiful. Be the
best you can be and look your best for you, your husband and your kids every day.
• Could you give us a sneak peek at how you would be spending your Valentine’s Day,
notwithstanding the fact that it’s on an Ash Wednesday?
Valentine’s day is a special day just like every other day with my Husband. Every day is Valentine ’s
Day for us…. That said… we will be taking a trip to a beautiful beach that weekend.
The Stylebeat Mag Team can’t thank you enough for this wonderful time on the Sofa. We
hope you had a swell time with us too. Thank you so much, Mrs. Nazee.
Perhaps one of the most "Oscar-baiting"
movies of the year (Meryl Streep, Tom
The post couldn't have come at a better
time...
A historical drama set in the early 1970's
depicts the story of Kat Graham... And
her fight to do the most difficult thing in
the Reagan administration was to tell
the truth.
Meryl Streep does it again... Proving for
the 61st time that she's more than a
cold and technical actress. With her
performance less proves to be more…
And without excessive dramatics or
hysterics.. We are sucked into life of the
incredible woman Katharine Graham
and what it means to risk everything to
make the right choice. Tom hanks is as
brilliant as ever in his performance as
Ben Bradlee and with an ensemble cast
including Alison Brie, and Bob
Odenkirk... The acting in this film leaves
nothing to be desired.
Steven Spielberg is as masterful as ever
with the post... With every movie we
wonder if he can ever measure to the
brilliance of "Saving Private Ryan". We
are amazed each time and the post is
no exception. Writers, Liz Hannah and
Josh Singer do an amazing job with the
script with half the material and in half
the time!!!
In all, The Post is a great movie on the
threshold of becoming a master piece
but narrowly falls short. Not to worry...
We predict at least 5 nods at the
Oscars Best actress for Streep, Best
actor for Hanks, Best director for
Spielberg and Best Screenplay for
Hannah and Singer.) So, Go watch “The
Big brother on my timeline and mind.
" STREETS THE ON "
The hot topic on all our lips and social media pages is the Big brother Nigeria that is
now ongoing. Even children who were mere babies when the maiden edition was
aired are getting all excited and already picking favourites. Numerous reactions have
trailed the commencement of the third edition and as usual, we are on this streets for
the juiciest "tatafo " on the topic. There is the first group who are mad excited to
watch other people do all manner of stuff on camera because they finally have live
'amebo' to engage in. Then there are the people who are just glad that the show is
back on as a great distraction from the effects of poor governance both on the side of
the government and the suffering masses. There are also the social commentators
who have put on their judges' hat, ready to watch to see and decry the moral
decadence of the 21st-century Nigerian youth. But in all things, there is some lesson
or knowledge to be gleaned. I personally can bet you dear reader that most watchers
of big brother do not realize that it was inspired by the ominous surveillance system
in the futuristic world of George Orwell's 1984. There you learned something new.
Now let's get our popcorn and prepare to enjoy the show. Which "nation" shall I join?
I ask myself based on logistics.
magazine Nigeria had the utmost
pleasure of discussing with him
about his perception in the new year
for his art and his art mistakes in
2017.
Here is what he had to say:
Q: What is your personal
perception of your art and the sales
for you?
A : Well.. personally I look
forward to strengthening
already existing relationships
between myself and my clients
and also with new clients
interested in my art direction.
I also hope to chart a new
direction in my art too;forging
new partnerships, evolving new
styles and being a bit more
professional in my approach this
time around. Hopefully there
would be no setbacks this year.
( he laughs) but where such
happens, I bet it's best I pick
myself up, dust myself over and
surge ahead like everyone else.
Q: What are the Challenges you
faced in 2017 and what do you
think 2018 will look like for you?
A: Well..2017 was borderline
okay.
For my art, I had decided to let my
Watercolour take a back seat and
concentrated on drawings
instead. I was going through a
torrid time emotionally and I
didn't want my emotional state to
gradually seep into my
watercolours so I decided to
leave it on the back burner for the
time being.
On the flip side, in an effort to
strike a balance, I decided to
become a bit more outgoing and
started attending art events and
exhibitions and parties a bit more
often than I normally did in the
past.
