Find out more at www.aht.org.uk Reasons to remember the AHT in your Will Gifts in Wills are crucial to so much of our work, including our vital research into cancer, lameness and blindness in dogs, cats and horses. Over one third of our fundraising income comes from these lasting legacies - without them we would simply cease to be effective. So, for the sake of the animals that so enrich our lives, please consider remembering the AHT in your Will. Ava Gardner What’s the connection between the AHT and Hollywood legend Ava Gardner? The American actress and singer loved animals, especially Corgis, and one of Ava’s dogs was treated at the AHT many years ago. Inspired by our work, Ava Gardner never forgot about the AHT and dedicated a gift to our charity in her Will. Through us, Ava’s love of animals lives on. Thanks to Ava, we’ve been able to help improve the lives of countless dogs, cats and horses through our constant work to improve veterinary medicine. In turn, this work helps animals all over the world benefit from improvements in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease or injury, which are often bigger threats to animals than neglect or abuse. Through Ava’s Legacy to the AHT our special connection lives on for the benefit of all animals. Thanks to Ava’s generosity, we will be forever grateful to her for her support. Why should we make or change a Will? Only 40% of people ever get around to making a Will, and only 15% remember to specify a charity, yet we should all make a legally binding Will so that our wishes are carried out properly after we die. Not only is making a Will good financial planning for our loved ones, it gives us the opportunity to make a difference to our favourite causes. So, if you wish to keep your inheritance secure and to leave a lasting legacy, be sure to make or update your Will. Leaving a donation to charity can also have some tax benefits, so there is no reason not to remember your favourite charity in your Will. How can I remember the AHT in my Will? We have a free guide describing the simple steps required to make or change a Will. It explains how to select a solicitor, how to understand the implications of inheritance tax and outlines the different ways you can leave a bequest to your favourite charities. For your copy, get in touch today. For further information, please call 01638 555648 or email legacies@aht.org.uk. We would urge you to remember the AHT and leave a lasting legacy of kindness to animals in your Will. Thank you. AHT Life 25
