Local February 15th-21st, 2018 Page 5 Colonial Williamsburg Expands On-Site Amenities for Military Guests at Liberity Lounge Welcomes 100,000 Visitor W I L L I A M S - BURG, Va. (Feb. 12, 2018) – Colonial Williamsburg’s Liberty Lounge, a complimentary space for ticketed military guests to relax and recharge in the Historic Area, welcomed its 100,000th visitor Feb. 3. The milestone comes less than two years since the lounge first opened its doors May 26, 2016. Part of a broad military outreach initiative led by Elisabeth Reiss, wife of Colonial Williamsburg President and CEO Mitchell B. Reiss, the Liberty Lounge is staffed full-time by 63 Foundation volunteers with more than 435 years Busch Gardens Unveils New Membership Program Submitted by Danielle Noel of collective service in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. The donor-funded lounge, located in the Margaret Hunter Workshop just off Duke of Gloucester Street, offers amenities such as hot and cold beverages, wireless Internet access and a children’s area, and showcases vintage military memorabilia from Foundation collections. “It was a dream of mine to create a special space for our military guests and their families to recharge while visiting Colonial Williamsburg,” said Elisabeth Reiss. “We could never have anticipated the overwhelming On February 7th, Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced the revamping of their current membership programs for season pass holders. While the changes drew the ire of long time passholders (many of whom pay as little as $9.00 a month per pass), the new changes Busch offer incentives that many others can enjoy. The park is now offering three tiers of membership, each with varying levels of benefits. Here is a simple breakdown of how they will work: Basic: ($12 per month/$144 per year) Season-long admittance to either Busch Gardens Williamsburg or Water Country USA (with the exception of select “black out” dates, in which Basic members will be able to purchase 1-day tickets for $25… this pass does not include membership to BOTH parks), special “member-only” events, 10% off food and merchandise, 50% off general parking, $25 off guest general admission tickets, 50% off tickets to other SeaWorld Entertainment Parks (with the exception of Discovery Cove) Unlimited: ($17 per month/$204 per year) This pass will include unlimited admission to Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA throughout the entire operating season, including unlimited admission to Christmas Town. Also included are all of the benefits of the Basic Membership, but also free general parking, 2 free guest tickets to use throughout the season, and $35 off 1-day guest tickets. Premier: ($22 per month/$264 per year) Similar to the former Platinum Pass, the Premier membership will include all of the benefits of the Unlimited membership, but will include unlimited admission to all SeaWorld Entertainment Parks (with the exception support the Lounge has received from guests and the community, and we are grateful to our volunteers, donors and corporate sponsors for making it all possible.” Elisabeth Reiss added that the Liberty Lounge assists volunteers and staff with communicating the year-round military discounts and offerings available to Colonial Williamsburg guests, including complimentary and discount admission through the Honoring Service to America program, sponsored by the Home Depot Foundation, and discounts on Colonial Williamsburg hotels, food and beverage, military of Discovery Cove), free preferred parking, $40 off 1-day guest tickets, and “Platinum Perks” offered at other SeaWorld Entertainment Parks. The move was an effort for the park to reward passholders for their continued loyalty to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, which holds the largest number of memberships of any of the SeaWorld Entertainment Parks. The major benefit is the inclusion of Christmas Town as part of the general season for Unlimited and Premier membership holders for only a few dollars more a month than many passholders are currently paying. From now until March 31, 2018, current passholders will have the option to convert their current memberships to one of the new plans for a discount of $2 off the price per month (e.g. for the Unlimited membership, the cost will be $15 per month). The park will Poquoson All-Virginia Middle School Honors Choir Students Anna Hubbard (8th grade) and Meredith Walters (7th grade), both students at Poquoson Middle School, have been selected for the prestigious opportunity to perform in the All-Virginia Middle School Honors Choir. In the wake of the Liberty Lounge’s milestone, Colonial Williamsburg expands its on-site amenities for military guests President’s Day weekend with the opening of a new military information desk at the Colonial Williamsburg Regional Visitor Center. The desk will be staffed full-time by Foundation volunteers and will help drive awareness of Colonial Williamsburg military offerings by orienting guests with military amenities, programs, exhibits and discounts. Information on scheduled demonstrations involving honor this monthly price for at least the first twelve months of membership and will not automatically raise pricing without providing plenty of notice to passholders. For those who would like to maintain their current membership pricing and benefits, Busch Gardens Williamsburg will continue to honor these as “Legacy” passes for at least the next year. They do emphasize that, at musket and cannon fire will also be available to guests who would like advance notice.
