KATIE’S STORY
Ten year old Alder Hey Ambassador, and guest editor, Katie from Cheshire
is a remarkable girl who has been helping Alder Hey raise vital funds for
many years.
After development problems with
her movement as a baby, Katie was
diagnosed with Diplegic Cerebral Palsy,
a form of cerebral palsy marked by
tense muscles and spasms.
and annual check-ups to keep a close
major surgery to improve her posture
and help with her standing and walking.
back – a difficult task for someone as
bubbly as Katie!
In May 2017, after being given botox in
her legs to help relax her muscle tone,
Katie underwent further surgery to
remove blade plates which were fitted
during her first surgery.
