XII STATION - JESUS DIES ON THE CROSS
We worship you oh Christ and we bless you.
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. (genuflection)
Reading:
And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "E'lo-I, E'lo-I, la'ma sa-bach-tha'ni?" which means,
"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" And some of the bystanders hearing it said, "Behold,
he is calling Eli'jah." And one ran and, filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to
him to drink, saying, "Wait let us see whether Eli'jah will come to take him down." (Mark 15:33-36).
Then Jesus crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit! And having
said this he breathed his last." (Luke 23:46)
And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who
stood facing him, saw that he thus breathed his last he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!" (Mark
15:38-39).
But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore,
we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. (Rm. 5:8-
9).
A moment of prayer, kneeling.

Merciful Father, Christ your Son has known death for us; grant us we implore you, the forgiveness of
sins, instill in us your Holy Spirit so that we can participate in your own life.
He who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Amen.

XII ESTACIÓN - JESÚS MUERE EN LA CRUZ
Te adoramos oh Cristo y te bendecimos.
Porque por tu santa cruz redimiste al mundo. (genuflexión)
Lectura:
Al mediodía, se oscureció toda la tierra hasta las tres de la tarde; y a esa hora, Jesús exclamó en alta
voz: «Eloi, Eloi, lamá sabactani», que significa: «Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado?».
Algunos de los que se encontraban allí, al oírlo, dijeron: «Está llamando a Elías». Uno corrió a mojar
una esponja en vinagre y, poniéndola en la punta de una caña le dio de beber, diciendo: «Vamos a ver si
Elías viene a bajarlo».(Marcos 15:33-36).
Jesús, con un grito, exclamó: «Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu». Y diciendo esto, expiró.
(Lucas 23:46)
El velo del Templo se rasgó en dos, de arriba abajo. Al verlo expirar así, el centurión que estaba
frente a él, exclamó: «¡Verdaderamente, este hombre era Hijo de Dios!». (Marcos15:38-39).
Pero la prueba de que Dios nos ama es que Cristo murió por nosotros cuando todavía éramos
pecadores. Y ahora que estamos justificados por su sangre, con mayor razón seremos librados por él de
la ira de Dios. (Rm. 5:8-9)

Padre misericordioso, Cristo tu Hijo ha conocido la muerte por nosotros; concédenos que te imploremos,
el perdón de los pecados, inculca en nosotros tu Espíritu Santo para que podamos participar en tu propia
vida.
Que vive y reina por los siglos de los siglos.
