WELCOME Our From Brian Cochran—Senior Pastor I don’t know if you realise but you are part of the great church! Sure, it is not perfect, it’s full of people! But from my perspective it is full of good people on a journey of following God and serving him as best as we can. As you read this report you will come across stories and facts and figures that actually only tell a small part of what our people are doing in and around our community. I want to thank our staff and exceptional team of ministry leaders for their service and good work. It is such a pleasure to work with dedicated and faithful people. I also hope that as you read through the report you will also see something of the future vision for each ministry. If you think that this is something that you would like to be part of, don’t be shy in stepping forward and contacting the ministry leader or myself. We promise not to over work you!! As Gay and I complete our time here at the church, we find ourselves thinking of the friends we have made and the work that has been done, we remain confident that Otumoetai Baptist will continue to be a place where we strive to Live like Jesus, to Love without measure, to Learn our faith and to Lead to make a difference. Yours in Christ, Brian Cochran Core Values We are followers of Jesus – We acknowledge Jesus as Lord of our life and together we ensure that we continue to grow in our spiritual lives. We acknowledge that lifelong faith is not solely taught in church programs, but rather is caught from a lifestyle of faith. We are family – Christian community is an integral part of being a follower of Jesus. We celebrate diversity of ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. We recognise that ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ - We want to be that village and help people nurture faith in their whanau. We are missional – We make a commitment to be a mission focused church. We see the measure of a missional church is the level at which each member engages in meaningful relationship with unchurched people. In order to influence our community, we need to understand it and be in it. We will go beyond giving aid, to giving ourselves. The phrase we want to hear is “you were there for me”. We are a people of grace – We strive to have a reputation of generosity, not just with money but also with time and love. “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 3
