Interesting facts:
• The oldest swimming type is breaststroke;

their trunks to breathe through;
• August 6th 1926 - Gertrude Ederle was the
first woman to swim the English Channel and
did it quicker than the fastest male;

After it was snowing on the 10 th of December
2017, I interviewed the members of our student
newspaper club about their snow activities:
“I built three snowmen sitting on a bench.”
“I had a snowball fight.”
“I made snow angles.”
“I slide across the ice.”
“I made a big snowman and went sledging.”
“I built a huge snowman.”
“I went sleighing with my friends.”

Ms Girschick and the snow incidence
As known, children and adults love to make things out of snow, but sadly bad things occasionally happen
to them. Here is a story from Ms Girschick and her snow incidence:
“It was a nice, lovely Sunday morning and my friends and I
decided to make something out of snow. What we built was
a snow TV, a snow dog and two snowmen. We thought it
would be a good idea to build it in the front garden, so
that’s what we did. Lots of people wanted to take pictures
and that was fine with us.
Later on in the afternoon, we went out for a walk. On that walk, I met one of the students in my class
and we had a little snowball fight. After that, it was time for us to go home, so we walked back to our
house to see a shocking surprise…
When we came back, we saw that our two snowmen and our snow TV had been… DESTROYED! The only
thing that wasn’t destroyed was the snow dog (I’m guessing they are dog lovers!). So, I know now, that
the next time it snows, I should build my snowmen in the back garden.”
Mrs Townsend’s story about Cecil
We have already had a sad story about things which happened to people and
their snow things but there are more about it. Here is another story about a
snowman attack from Mrs Townsend:
“It was a lovely Sunday night; I was looking out my front window to see if it had
snowed anymore, but it hadn’t. While I was looking, I thought it would be a
good idea to check my snowman Cecil, which I had built together with some
friends on the same afternoon. I looked down from my window to where the
snowman sat. I stared down and saw that Cecil had been… ATTACKED!!!
This was such an unfortunate event and I hope it never happens to you.”

• Give your pet lots of attention
• Make sure they can go to a vet nearby
• Check them regularly for fleas/ticks
• Check if they have any injuries or scars
• Groom them every day

Cheetahs
How fast is a cheetah?
A cheetah can run 110-120 km per hour.
What does a cheetah eat?
A cheetah eats gazelles, wildebeest
calves, impalas, and smaller hoofed
animals in its habitat.
Where does a cheetah
live?
Cheetahs are mostly found in Sub-
Saharan Africa and in eastern and
South African parks.
How does a cheetah behave?
Cheetahs use very tall grass for camouflage when hunting. They are more active at the
day and mostly hunt at the early morning or late evening.

Who are a cheetah’s
enemies?
Cheetahs have a lot of enemies. We don’t
know all of the enemies, but some of them
are lions, leopards, hyenas, vultures, jackals
and also some wild dogs.
Why are cheetahs endangered animals?
Cheetahs are endangered animals because their skin is beautiful. They once roamed much of
Africa and Asia, but now they are endangered
How long do cheetahs live?
Cheetahs live 10 – 12 years.

MINECRAFT
WHO MADE IT?
• It was made by ‘Notch’ and ‘Jens’
• Notch is 38 and was born on June the 1 st in 1979
• Jens is 38 and was born on May the 18 th in 1979
When was it made?
Its first version (which was called “the creative mode”)
was released on the 17 th of May in 2009. Another version
called “the survival mode” was released just before 2010.
About 2 or 3 times a month, Minecraft has a new update
with more things in it.
What new things get added in?
There are many things, but those are the main ones:
1) Armour stands
2) Different kinds of blocks
3) New animals

What can you do in Minecraft?
You have your own character and name. Then you can
make your own world and build houses, shops and
things like that. Then you can add some animals in and
tame them! Those are mainly the things you can do.
How many people can join my server?
Up to four people can join on a pc (pocket edition) or on
the phone. I think it’s the same with all other devices as
well.

Snakes and ladders
It is a fun game which you can get from any toy
shop. You go up the ladders and down the snakes.
It is for ages 4 and over because it contains small
pieces. It takes about ten minutes to play.
Monopoly
In this game you get money from the bank
and can go to jail. You receive chance cards
and mystery cards. There are different
characters to play. You roll two dice at a time.
Cluedo
It’s a fun twist and for ages 8 and over.
There is a mystery, which everyone is trying
to solve. You get caught up with the scandal
of the century.
Connect four
If you are six years old or over you can play
it. It is a two-player game. The brand is
Hasbro.
Pie face
It is a game of fun and excitement. When
you are smacked in the face with cream it
tastes nice. You use cream and a wet
sponge. Pie face is my favourite game
because I love cream and cold water.
