My sincere congratulations to all artists featured in <strong>2018</strong> edition of The First Berliner Art Book series.<br />
Together they give a beautiful insight in the current developments of contemporary visual arts. All these<br />
artists are chosen on proven quality in their works. As a new co-curator of The First Berliner Art Book <strong>2018</strong>,<br />
when visiting a museum or a gallery, I use five criteria to judge the quality of art: originality, technique,<br />
composition, emotion and fascination.<br />
A present day artist always has to look for a new way and an original angle to visualize her or his message.<br />
Originality is one of the key elements for jumping out the mass. A work of art can be inspired by the works<br />
of other artists, but has to be an original and personal statement of its creator.<br />
An artwork is created to last many years, providing the owner a long lasting satisfaction. Thus a sound<br />
technique is a must. Technique brings the message through the handling of the media and has to support<br />
the composition in which the artist balances colors, lines, shapes and dimensions. The composition focuses<br />
on the spectator’s eye and underlines the total concept of an artwork.<br />
Emotion and fascination are the most important and closely intertwined criteria. Every great artwork<br />
provokes a strong emotions created by the technique and the composition, but most of all by exposing the<br />
inner thoughts and the soul of the artist. The viewers have there’s own reflections on the artist’s messages,<br />
making there’s own stories by interpreting and understanding the works of art. These stories are what<br />
fascinates the spectator and is what everybody wants to see in a great piece of art.<br />
I hope that the readers of The First Berliner Art Book <strong>2018</strong> will experience and enjoy the qualities in the<br />
works of the featured artists and I wish all artists continuous inspiration and improvement, so that we may<br />
send our messages throughout the world.<br />

I am very glad to propose a new edition of The First Berliner Art Book, the aim of which is to promote<br />
selected artists, truly representative of the actual visual arts, thus emphasizing their role in the complex<br />
context of our modern society.<br />
The high exigency in selecting the works and artists is an essential component of Art Management Berlin´s<br />
promoting choices and quality policy.<br />
Along the years, the collection got significantly richer, undoubtedly adding artists of great value coming<br />
from all disciplines and mediums of visual arts. Their extraordinary merit and valuable contribution to the<br />
enrichment of Art and the preservation of spiritual values make of them true creators of our contemporary<br />
art history.<br />
Given the high criteria of the professional evaluation provided by a specialized jury, the artists included in<br />
this album are present in many international galleries. The art curators, critics, art lovers and collectors have<br />
thus the possibility of getting an in-depth view in the evolution of the artists The First Berliner Art Book is<br />
proposing. This album is presenting a wide range of confirmed contemporary names, thus reaffirming them<br />
on the international stage, alongside with young, constantly growing artists who deserve being noticed<br />
through this First Berliner Art Book.<br />
The visual richness created and generously shared by contemporary artists stand for art´s importance in<br />
our world, a world in which esthetical and ethical values could become the drive and balance of today´s<br />
society.<br />
I wish to thank all the participants at and collaborators to this edition, who put their undivided attention<br />
and energy in the global promotion of the visual arts.<br />
