Amber’s Career Change

Amber’s Career Change to Aged Care Amber first studied at ET Australia completing her CHC30708 Certificate III in Children’s Services before turning her home into a family day care centre. This all changed in February 2016 when she made the decision to sell her house, and opt for a career change at the same time. With a keen interest in nursing, and some encouragement from her sister who was working as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN), Amber decided to explore a similar path and soon found herself back at ET Australia as a student studying for a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support in early 2017. ‘After the positive experience I’d previously had studying at ET Australia, and the wonderful support the dedicated trainers offered, I decided to study with them again’ said Amber who initially started studying as a self paced student with ET Australia, before joining the classroom environment. ‘I found enormous benefit joining the classes, the other students were so supportive of each other and the trainers were always ready to help.’ shared Amber, who on her days off would visit ET Australia for a quiet place to study utilising the student hub facilities, safe in the knowledge that there was always a trainer on hand to assist if need be. Amber went on to complete work placement at Aurrum Erina and Tarragal House Erina where she felt the hands-on experience and advice from other AINs gave her the confidence to put into practice what she learned in theory. Since completing her certificate Amber was offered two jobs as an AIN and is currently working at Tarragal House Erina where she has found enormous purpose in gaining clients trust, caring for them and making them smile along the way. ‘Studying at ET Australia gave me every confidence that I was equipped with all the tools to make my new career a success. I’m so glad I made the choice to study at ET Australia’ Do you want to make a difference like Amber, or are you looking to make a change in career? Joylajane Works Her Way Through Multiple Vocational Training Certificates in Business Joylajane receiving her BSB40515 Certificate IV in Business Administration certificate from Tony Johnson, owner of DrainCorp Joylajane Pati is a wife and mother to a 2 year old son. She enjoys photography, music and spending time with immediate and extended family. Joylajane first learned about ET Australia’s Training College after her parents collected a brochure on her behalf at a local Employment Expo. Joy was excited by the opportunity and after attending an information session, was selected to participate in a 6 week Business Access program at the beginning of 2012. Joy became a student at ET Australia Training College and as a visual learner, she loved the program delivered in a classroom environment where she could ask questions as they arose with immediate response. ET Australia assisted Joy in securing work placement at Mingara Recreation Club which enabled her to put her learnings into practice on the job and likewise, her time at Mingara allowed her to gain a more in-depth understanding of business operations, policies and procedures all within a supportive learning environment. During her time at Mingara Recreation Club, Joy was also exposed to Mingara’s recruitment process. She was able to observe numerous interviews providing her with invaluable insight about the interviewing process and what to do, and what not to do in interviews. These are the kinds of experiences Joy will be able to draw on throughout her career. Upon completion of her work placement, Joy sucessfully gained employment as an Office Administrator at Draincorp where she completed a BSB30115 Certificate III in Business traineeship in 2013 and then finished a BSB40515 Certificate IV in Business Administration in November 2016. In her spare time Joy finds herself applying her learnings to her personal life as well, developing her own systems and processes to stay organised and enjoys helping her friends and family with their job applications. Next year she is looking forward to starting a Bookkeeping/ Accounting dual Certificate IV whilst pursuing her career at Draincorp. Joy with her fellow Business graduates 17 Joylajane with her family
