WELCOME...
...to the February / March 2018 edition of
VV...
At the time of writing, many VV readers will be
working on their New Year resolutions (and
some finding it a bit difficult...!)
I started the new year thinking about household
waste, recycling and my use of plastic, and
decided to find out more, and see what I could
do. I was pleased then to receive details about
the ‘energy from waste’ recycling centre, which
you will see features on the noticeboard in this
edition of VV. This is very topical, as the
government has announced targets for reducing
the use of non-recyclable plastic, and
encouraging us to veto the use of ‘single use’
plastic items, such as cups, drinking straws and
water and soft drinks bottles. I would encourage
VV readers to think ways we could all reduce
our use of non-recyclable plastic.
On another, local, environmental matter, I
recently had a conversation with a fairly new
resident, who was surprised at the amount of
litter down Hammersley Lane recently. She
asked if there was an appetite for rubbish
clearing in our community?
In this edition of VV you will see the latest
updates on the Ashwells development plans, as
well as updates from our Schools, Sports clubs,
and various societies and groups. Bill Sadler is
also encouraging us to bird watch again this
spring. Our next edition of VV will be the April
and May edition, and by the time it is delivered
