Quarterly Laundry Report
FDR Services Begins Phase II of Hempstead Plant Renovation
As part of our efforts to consistently provide the most innovative laundry solutions to our customers, FDR
Services has started Phase II of our $10 million renovation project. We are excited to share that we are
starting the following series of upgrades and installations to better serve you:

Power Plant: FDR Services is installing three new parallel upright 150 HP boilers to reduce total plant
natural gas consumption by approximately 30%. Other power plant upgrades include the installation of a
new heat reclamation system, and an installation of our own well. We are also installing brand new
compressors and air dryers in the plant, using less natural gas and automating the balance of the
washroom. We will also incorporate the use of a code generator in Phase III.
Thermal Ironers: We are installing a completely new line of self-contained thermal ironers. We will also
be utilizing an ergonomic delivery system to all new feeders and folders with automatic traffic control to
ensure all flat goods automatically reach the pack out location.
Soil/Sort Rail System: Through the installation of a new soil/sort rail system, FDR Services will be able to
automatically deliver linen directly into tunnels, thus eliminating double-handling of soiled linen and
increasing efficiency.
Site Improvements and Logistics: In an effort to create efficiency, FDR Services is installing new docks for
both soil and clean linen.

Employee Appreciation:
FDR Sponsors Annual Holiday Plant Luncheons and Corporate Party
FDR values all the hard work and dedication their employees put into the company. Each and every employee at
FDR is a member of our family which is why throughout the month of December, the New York, North Carolina, and
Virginia plants all held holiday luncheons for plant employees. The parties were flowing with fun, food, and holiday
cheer!
FDR also hosted their annual holiday party for corporate employees at the Mill River Club in Oyster Bay, New York.
This year’s theme at the corporate holiday party was casino night, which provided employees with the opportunity
to learn how to play Craps, Black Jack, and Roulette. The party also included dinner, dessert, and raffle prizes.
Every year, the owners of FDR, Donald and Keith Luneburg, and Jesse McCormack, give speeches at each party to
recognize the achievements throughout the previous year. It unites everyone in the company to be able to get
together and celebrate their success. Our team works diligently to keep FDR at the forefront of the healthcare
laundry industry and we thank every one of our employees for their extra efforts in going above and beyond for our
customers.
Here at FDR, we pride ourselves in being HLAC-accredited in our Front Royal, VA and Greensboro, NC laundry
processing facilities. But what does this mean for our customers?
The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) accredits laundries that process
reusable textiles for healthcare facilities based on the highest, professionally
recognized standards for patient safety and infection prevention. Having an HLACaccreditation
means that we’ve raised the bar on patient safety, credibility, and
quality improvement and that our practices are the industry’s best and most current
available.
To receive accreditation by HLAC, a laundry processing facility must pass an HLAC
inspection of its facility, policies and procedures, and the entire textile laundering
process from start to finish. This includes the handling and transporting of soiled
healthcare linens, the in-plant laundering, and delivery back to the customer. A
routine inspection includes a physical walk-through of the entire plant and places
critical assessment on factors such as design, equipment, training, practices,
protocols, and observance of regulatory body requirements.
Being an HLAC-accredited laundry means that we share the same goals as our customers, with patient-safety
being our main focus. Patient safety and OSHA-required practices, including Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure
Control Standards, are paid special attention by HLAC-accredited laundry processing facilities. Most recently, a
Part III was added to the Standards which addresses the surgical pack assembly room and its activities. Our
operational process strictly adheres to the professionally recognized infection prevention and control policies.
Because patient safety and quality improvement go hand-in-hand, meeting and maintaining HLAC Accreditation
Standards means we commit to a new level of excellence in the way we process our laundry. The accreditation
process ensures our customers have quality assurance and monitoring processes in place to provide hygienically
clean linen every time. Some of our quality control factors are:
Disposable vs. Reusable Cover Gowns:
Which is Saving You Money?
Cover gowns are a common necessity for any
healthcare facility with an OR. While both
disposable and reusable cover gowns are used in
the surgical field, a reusable cover gown is the most
cost-effective option.
Many of our customers have made the switch to our
reusable cover gown rental services and have
benefited from cost savings and sustainability.
Our customers’ OR staff members are in and out of
the operating room several times a day. Each time a
member of the staff walked out of the OR, he or she
was throwing away their disposable gown and
would have to replace it with a new one several
times a day.
Additional Benefits Include:

Cost Benefits of Using Reusable Cover Gowns vs. Disposables
Reusable Cost $0.65 - $0.85
Disposable Cost $1.05 - $1.20
