“He's over here,” Annie yelled.<br />
I picked up a rumbled pile of what I hoped<br />
was still Eddie and hustled down the steps. He<br />
had not moved.<br />
“Take the Volvo,” Annie called as she caught<br />
up to me and put the keys in my jacket pocket. I<br />
kicked open the gate, gently placed Eddie in the<br />
backseat, and zoomed toward the hospital a few<br />
seconds later with Annie calling out directions<br />
and warnings . We made it in record time. Four<br />
strong arms picked up the unresponsive Eddie,<br />
put him on a stretcher and hurried into the<br />
Emergency Room. My gorgeous wife picked me<br />
up a few hours later when Eddie woke up.
