their risk follow these simple tips.

cooker if it has been turned on. Similar devices are
available for taps to reduce risk of flooding. Motion
sensor activated lighting will light the way at night to
reduce risk of falls. Buy these devices from a reputable
business.
Buy With Confidence - Check the qualifications of
tradespeople you employ e.g. Gas Safe Registered or
use a robust trader approval scheme such as the local
authority Trading Standards approved trader scheme

Simple Practical Solutions
• Leave a list of trusted emergency contacts by the
phone in case of emergency.
• Post-it notes stuck to the front door can remind your
loved one of appointments.
• Sign-in / out sheet signed by the home dweller and
regular tradespersons can check that services are
actually being delivered, eg the cleaner
• A chain on the front door and no cold calling stickers
can prevent unsolicited callers from knocking and
coming in. Request a person’s identification card
before allowing them in if the visit is unexpected.
