The Legend of Lady Godiva 

When Lady Godiva, wife of Lord Leofric, protested against the taxation of his subjects a 

deal was struck: Lady Godiva would ride through the streets of Coventry, “clad in naught 

but her long tresses”, and if the population remained in shuttered buildings, their tax burden 

would be lifted. 

The following morning she made her famous ride, the citizens graciously stayed inside and 

Leofric kept his word and reduced the taxes. Lady Godiva won the hearts of many and her 

legend has continued to deepen throughout the centuries. 

Nowhere is her generosity, passion and pioneering, more symbolised than in a tantalising 

box of Godiva chocolates which in turn are sure to win the hearts of all those taste them.

Chef Yannick started his carreer as a pâtissier in France, working in 

several Michelin-starred restaurants. He joined Godiva after he moved

Thierry has been an integral part of the development team for all 

Godiva products since he joined Godiva in 1989 as part of its Research

Thierry Muret 

Ilse joined Godiva in 1991 as the member of the Research & 

Development team. “Together with our American colleagues we 

create and develop the finest, most delicious, delightful and wonderful 

chocolates” she says proudly.

Godiva Chef Chocolatier Pacific Rim & China 

Born in Belgium, Philippe is a fourth generation chef and that his 

father is a famous Michelin two-star chef in Belgium. Joined Godiva 

in 2012, Philippe is based in Beijing and focus primarily on the 

development of new chocolate and pastry.

Godiva Chef Chocolatier 

Jean started his career as a Chocolatier-Patissier in Belgium. After 32 

years of extensive working with prestigious brands, Jean decided to 

join Godiva. Thanks to his flair and innovation sense, he is now one of 

Godiva’s talented chefs.
