Playing with Vibrations

Guitar There are six

Guitar There are six strings on a guitar. The strings are hooked on a piece of wood at the bottom and on knobs at the top. You can turn the knobs to make the strings tighter. The sound changes. But if you make the strings too tight, they can break. When you pick the strings, they vibrate and make noise. The top strings are bumpy and make a low sound, the bottom strings are skinny and make a high sound. The hole in the middle makes the noise louder when you pick the strings. The guitar is made of wood and a pick is made of plastic. 18

Violin The violin is made of wood and has four strings. You use a bow that is made of horse hair and wood to move it across the strings. Then, the strings vibrate. You have to hold the violin under your chin, so it has a chin rest. 19
