Playing with Vibrations

Learn all about musical instruments!

Hearing Vibrations First, tie a string around a metal spoon. Hold the strings in your ears and hit the spoon on different objects. When you hit the objects, it makes noise in your ears. This is because sound moves in waves, vibrating through the string to your ears. 8

Trumpet The trumpet is made out of metal. We blow in the mouthpiece, and when we press the keys, it makes a high or low sound. The air inside vibrates really fast and the sound comes out the big end, called the bell. The trumpet is really loud! It has a spit valve where you can empty the spit from. 9
