Welcome Growing Brighter

Welcome Growing Brighter Futures Our Vision By creating engaging, relevant, and plentiful opportunities to learn, our children will maximise their achievement while developing their individuality, sense of belonging, independence and confidence. What Matters to Us Creating opportunities for children to continue to develop curious, enquiring minds to support their academic achievement. Stimulating children’s imagination and creativity in all parts of the curriculum. Ensuring all learning benefits the children’s own lives as well as their community. Making learning useful and meaningful by providing experiences including trips, visiting experts, using the FoodLab with a trained chef and teachers linking learning to real life. Ensuring children are ready to move to secondary school, and with the best outcomes they can achieve. Six Things We Will Do 1. Ensure our children are experts in literacy, numeracy, problem solving and adapting to change so they are successful no matter what the future brings. 2. Embed the Natural Thinkers programme so that all children grow up having experienced learning in the natural environment and have a keen understanding about nature. 3. Provide more opportunities for children to be users and creators of technology by using technology across their learning and developing skills such as programming. 4. Give time for the learning of a foreign language with specialist teaching to help children take their place at home and abroad. 5. Enhance the learning of Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship to equip them for the future. 6. Create a Children’s Charter to reflect our parent/carer, pupil and teacher partnership. 1 Clapham Manor Primary School

From the Headteacher... Dear Parent/Carer On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, I would like to welcome you to Clapham Manor Primary School and Children’s centre. Our values are founded on the belief that every person in our school community has the right to enjoy happiness, freedom, safety, security and a sense of their own worth, because we are all different, but equal. Everyone has a right to be treated with respect and understanding and we do not tolerate any form of prejudice. We hope your child will be sensitive towards the needs of others and grow into a responsible young person who is able to contribute to and benefit from the diverse society which makes up our school. We aim to ensure that all pupils, regardless of race, class, gender, disabilities, special needs, religion or culture, have equal access to a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum and are provided with opportunities to develop their self esteem, confidence and reach their full potential in a rich and stimulating environment. Parents and carers are the child’s first teachers and Clapham Manor encourages you to participate fully in your child’s education. Close working relationships between parents and carers, teachers and children ensure the best possible opportunities for achievement, progress and success. The school is always working towards and completing new initiatives to ensure we can offer the best education, preparing pupils for life, no matter the changes successive governments make to policies. In the last ten years we have opened state-of-the-art Royal Institution of British Architects (RIBA) award winning extension of classrooms, music and dance spaces; built the Olympic Playground housing a running track and AstroTurf games pitch; created a FoodLab for learning how to cook good, nutritious food and the study of the scientific aspects behind nutrition; established ourselves as a Natural Thinkers School so our pupils explore learning outside their classrooms and developed “The Spinney” into a separate space for the school to be the centre of our Natural Thinkers activities and recently taken over the “One O’clock Club” on Clapham Common to provide extra support and activities for pre-school children. I hope that we can work together to continue to make Clapham Manor the happy and successful school that it is. Yours sincerely R Chinnadurai Headteacher January 2018 “Leadership and management are outstanding because of the excellent guidance and dedication of the Headteacher. A committed deputy and senior leaders support him.” Ofsted Clapham Manor Primary School 2
