About the

About the School Our school was founded in 1881. Extensions were added in 1928, 1945, and 2008. We have three floors with fourteen classrooms and additional learning spaces including a large, fully stocked library, specialist Food Laboratory for studying science and food, two large halls with the lower hall serving as a dining room for lunchtimes, a conference room for developing “Big Ideas”, a sprung floor dance and music room and an instrument instruction room. Our pre-school and nursery provide flexible and high quality child care and education for children aged 2 to 4 living in the local area. All our provisions are registered with Ofsted and the Local Authority to provide 110 full and part time child care and early learning places. We have 420 Primary School places for children aged 5 to 11. We group the classes within the school into four phases and each has an experienced teacher as leader to monitor academic and social progress and ensure our vision is realised. All classes are mixed ability with 30 children in each. We take up to 60 children in each year group into our school. Outside we have three separate playgrounds – one for only Reception children. All the playgrounds are well equipped with climbing frames and play areas to encourage imaginative play. We also have quiet areas so children can read or spend time talking with their friends. Our Olympic Playground contains a running track encircling an AstroTurf multi-use games area. Our School Council meets twice every term. The Council consists of elected pupils, staff, a Governor, and the Head teacher. Agendas and minutes are published and can be viewed on our website. We believe working in partnership with parents and carers is very important. As teachers we have a responsibility to the children to present good role models, for example, by using correct language at all times, showing respect and caring for each other. We expect parents and carers and the children to do the same. From this, children learn to share the resources around them and be caring towards each other. Please take time to read our School Behavioural Code. We hope you will support the school whenever you can, including coming in on activity days and attending the fairs and productions through the year. 3 Clapham Manor Primary School
