1 5 EL1052, EL1054 Digital input Digital input | NAMUR The EL105x digital input terminals serve as switching amplifiers for NAMUR field devices according to IEC 60947-5-6. The standard is derived from the working sheets of the “User Association of Automation Technology in Process Industries” and describes proximity sensors, which under normal operating conditions are connected to the control input of an evaluation unit (switching amplifier) via a two-wire connecting line. The status detection and failure monitoring of a connected NAMUR sensor is based on the reverse current, which is controlled by the variable internal resistance of the proximity sensor. The connected sensors are supplied with a voltage of 8.2 V DC and provide a diagnostic current signal. In this way a wire breakage or short-circuit can be detected in addition to the switching state.
