GOVERNMENT
ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2017
In 2017, the City Council committed
funding to continue to deliver high
quality services to our residents and
business community. These services
include police protection, road
construction, street maintenance, snow
and ice control, trash removal, large
item pickup, recreation reimbursement
program, recreation and arts programs,
and a multitude of other services. In
addition to our quality service delivery,
provided below are some of our major
accomplishments Village staff achieved
during 2017.
A SAFE AND
SECURE VILLAGE
Construction Of Monaco
Trail Completed
A new trail was designed and
constructed in Monaco Park to ensure
pedestrians have a safe walkway. The
trail extends from the intersection of
south Monaco Street and Belleview
Avenue to the existing trail/ sidewalk
along Monaco Street to the south. The
design included a realignment of the
ADA accessible ramp to improve safety
for pedestrians and cyclists.
GVPD Expands Outreach
With Community
In an effort to enhance relationships
with residents and businesses, the
Greenwood Village Police Department
took an active role in hosting several
events for residents and businesses,
including, but not limited to: Cub
Scout tours, annual Citizens’ Academy,
Coffee with a Cop, and HOA
meetings. Officers worked with several
businesses to develop and train
employees for active shooter protocols.
In addition, the Greenwood Village
Police Department, in partnership
with police and fire agencies, hosted
the Second Annual Metro Public
Safety Event where several law
enforcement and fire agencies
showcased their services and provided
outreach to citizens of all ages.
Electronic Crime Lab
Helps Other Jurisdictions
Many police and fire agencies, even
though they manage safety for their
own jurisdictions, have developed
great working relationships where they
rely on each other for assistance, and
in some cases, share resources to
combat crime, manage traffic, and
conduct crime prevention events. The
Village Police Department’s Electronic
Crime Lab assisted several agencies
with major crimes involving
computers due to the Lab’s features of
electronic crime analysis of cellular
telephones, tablets, and computers.
GV Awarded TIM Cup
Greenwood Village was the first
recipient of the Traffic Incident
Management (TIM) Cup for the
Village’s response to the fuel truck
crash that occurred in May 2017. The
TIM Cup Award is awarded by the
Colorado Department of
Transportation (CDOT) to the best
agency including law enforcement,
public works, dispatch and fire, who
overall embodied the TIM philosophy
in their daily operations and response
to critical incidents. Although
Greenwood Village was named as the
award’s first recipient, the Village truly
believe the success of our response to
this event would not have been
possible without the assistance of our
partners Arapahoe County Sheriff’s
Office, Colorado Department of
Transportation, Colorado State Patrol,
and South Metro Fire Rescue. The
entire Denver region should be
exceedingly proud of everyone
involved and their extraordinary
performance and response to this event
that resulted in only one injury.
New Street Lights For Belleview
And Dayton Intersection
New street lights were installed at the
intersection of Belleview Avenue and
Dayton Street. The purpose of the
street lights was to improve the safety
of the intersection by increasing the
visibility at night for both motorists
and pedestrians. While this
intersection currently performs at high
levels of safety, with the nearby
schools, churches/synagogue, and state
park access, assuring the continued
safe operations is important. The street
lights utilize the latest technology to
focus the illumination on the
intersection and avoid light spilling
into the nearby neighborhoods.
AND LEARNING
Curtis Center
In an effort to ensure the Curtis
Center continues to fulfill its mission
for our community, the Center
