LEADING TOGETHER ART & EXPERIENCES The Council on Foundations would like to thank the Arts Loan Fund in conjunction with the Northern California Grantmakers and Americans for the Arts for helping to infuse the Arts into the 2015 Annual Meeting. We are committed to showcasing the transformative power of connecting philanthropy and art. OPENING PLENARY SUNDAY, APRIL 26TH Bella Gaia AFTERNOON PLENARY MONDAY, APRIL 27TH Join us at the opening plenary to experience violinist Kenji Williams perform with vocalist Kristin Hoffman. Inspired by astronauts who spoke of the life changing power of seeing the Earth from space, director-composer Kenji Williams’ award winning BELLA GAIA (Beautiful Earth) involves collaborating with institutions such as NASA, The Smithsonian, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to present an unprecedented audiovisual experience that combines satellite imagery of Earth, time lapse nature photography, and cultural heritage footage with stirring live performances of music from around the world. Williams explores the nexus of art and science and combines these using his unique skills in film and music. Founded in 1996 in San Francisco, Youth Speaks has long championed a local, national, and increasingly global movement of young people picking up pens and stepping proudly onto stages, declaring themselves present. Through the intersection of arts education and youth development practices, civic engagement strategies, and high quality artistic presentation, Youth Speaks creates safe spaces that challenge young people to find, develop, publicly present, and apply their voices as creators of societal change. We are honored to have a few of their many talented voices open the afternoon plenary.
