I’ve had people cry when I tell them they’ve gotten the job they wanted. I’ve helped people go from making $15 an hour to $50,000 a year. Even people we don’t place get coaching for interviews and help drafting their resumes. Having the opportunity to help change someone’s life is why I work at Robert Half.” Accountemps and OfficeTeam colleagues at one of the city’s noteworthy historic sites 38 HALF TIMES

Handy, known as the Father of the Blues. Composer George Gershwin once told him, “Your work is the grandfather of mine.” • Memphis is home to a minor-league baseball team, The Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. • Bass Pro Shops, located in Memphis’ Pyramid Arena, is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. • Tom Lee Park is named after a citizen who, although he couldn’t swim, saved 32 people after a ship sank in the Mississippi River. • St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital was founded in Memphis by actor and producer Danny Thomas in 1962. • In 1952, Kemmons Wilson opened the first Holiday Inn in his hometown of Memphis. A short commute to the office — or just about anywhere in Memphis — means the team spends less time driving and more time being productive or having fun. Mild weather 10 months out of the year is great for people like Bo, a marathoner who runs as a way to relax. Chrissy, Odus and Robert like to go to Shelby Farms Park, one of the largest city parks in the U.S. Memphis’ famous barbecue scene makes for some of the team’s favorites spots, including Rendezvous, Central Barbecue, Corky’s Ribs and Barbecue, and Germantown Commissary. Swanky’s Taco Shop is a frequent spot for happy hour. For more upscale dining, there’s Flight, The Majestic Grille and — Tara’s favorite — Felicia Suzanne’s. The Levitt Shell, an open-air amphitheater in Overton Park, is a favorite of Alanna’s, who loves music and plays the piano. Art lovers like Alison enjoy going to local festivals like The Pink Palace Crafts Fair, a Memphis tradition for the past 45 years. Sports fan Bailey’s favorite thing to do is watch the local NBA team, the Memphis Grizzlies, play at the FedExForum. Graceland, Elvis’ iconic home, heads the list of places to go when guests come to visit. There’s also the The Stax Museum of American Soul Music; The National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, where civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated; and the Memphis Zoo, one of the top five in the country.
