in the spotlight | anniversaries GLORIA MASON Sales Support Cleveland, Ohio In the early 1980s, Gloria Mason was the receptionist and sole administrative staff member at our Cleveland franchise office. The owner at the time expressed concern that he’d soon have to close the doors. Gloria told him that she’d stay until then, and she has been here ever since. “I’ve supported people in a wide variety of positions, and I keep our office stocked with everything from sticky notes to coffee,” she said. “If you think that’s not important, see what happens when they run out!” Gloria stayed with Robert Half because of the people, who are like family. “This office has celebrated my work anniversaries, thrown me a baby shower and supported me when I needed to take time off for my three children.” Years ago, Gloria was told that if she wanted to stay with the company, she’d need to “go with the flow.” Looking back on the company’s transitions — from MicroJ to Salesforce and filing cabinets to a cloud-based office — she appears to have done just that. “I’ve changed with the times — and that includes a lot of changes!” she said. 35 YRS ABOUT GLORIA Favorite pastime: Spending time with my family, particularly my grandchildren. You’ll have great opportunities if you stick with it.” Since her first days here as a staffing manager, Rita has taken advantage of her good fortune. “I started with Robert Half when we were still building our foundation,” she recalled. “Breaking new ground as a company and growing my experience were some of the reasons I stayed.” Rita takes our Leadership by Example LEAD Principle to heart, whether as our mentorship program’s executive sponsor or in how she views others, including president and COO of Staffing Services Paul F. Gentzkow. “He’s fostered an environment of excellence,” she said. “He once told me: ‘Hire people either as good as yourself or better.’ Some might find this intimidating, but good people elevate your abilities and professionalism, and help you grow.” Rita’s team reflects this.
