JAN HASSARD

JAN HASSARD www.janhassard.co.uk The speciality of my work is colour and geometric illusion. As a busy tutor I am constantly looking to design modern and innovative pieces. My designs are mostly geared to my workshops and I usually work in commercial fabrics. Over my 30 year career in quilting I have travelled extensively and met many interesting inspirational quilters who have influenced my work and attitude. The modern artists of the late 20th century are also a constant source of design ideas. I am an invited judge for the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles which is challenging and stimulating. In addition I lecture on my extensive collection of heritage quilts, which I also exhibit from time to time. All my workshops and lectures are listed on my web site.

Watersmeet Specialising in geometric design, I have used the colours of the Devon moors in my linear bargello design based on the flowing waters of the streams and rivers of this hilly, rugged countryside. Rays of sunlight bounce off the water through the lush vegetation. My love of batik fabrics is combined with multi-coloured rayon quilting threads to complete the effect.
