esponses and you’ll

esponses and you’ll have a fun bulletin board or book to share with your new pupils next fall. MY YEAR ON A GRAPH Review graphing skills, get some good feedback from your students and have fun all at the same time. In this activity, students will create a graph of the “highs” and “lows” of their past ten months. Ask students to list their best and worst moments of the year. Member Spotlight Melissa Lamar is currently the Functional Skills teacher at Rivercrest Elementary. She has been a Special Education Teacher for 32 years, and she has served in several different schools in various Special Education settings. She has been a member of NEA for 31 years, and she says she would never teach in a classroom without it! Have them start with the first day of school and offer some suggestions for other “data points,” like field trips, dances, snow days, holidays, big tests or projects, etc. Then, the students can rate how good or bad these events were to them and plot them on a graph. If desired, have them create their graphs on poster board so they can illustrate each event. Source: http://www.teachhub.com/ No matter the school or the students she served, she could always be counted on to give her students the absolute best of her care and expertise. Ms. Lamar has a special way of being able to reach even the most difficult to reach child, and she possesses the unique ability to take her students far beyond what others may think the child capable of doing. In addition to her skills in the classroom, Ms. Lamar never hesitates to share her amazing depth of knowledge and skills with other teachers, whether they are based in special education or the regular classroom. Those who know Ms. Lamar often refer to her as being a miracle worker after observing her talents working with students. Ms. Lamar is an extraordinary, dedicated teacher who gives her best each and every day for her students. We are proud to have Ms. Lamar as a member of the Bartlett Education Association. Educators Meet with Lawmakers at Civication Over Spring Break, educators from Bartlett, as well as across the state of Tennessee, descended upon the Capitol to meet fact to face with legislators responsible for passing legislation that affect us in our classrooms daily. BEA president, Shon Myers met with Representative_______. Myers said, " Association vice president Nicole Mordhart had a one-onone with Representative ___________, saying, " Attendees also had the opportunity to attend House and Senate Education Committee meetings to witness first the process of policy-making. The Bartlett Education Association would love have an even larger presence at next year's Civication. Most of our representatives haven't set foot in a classroom since childhood and need to hear from us on how policy is affecting us and our students.
