SOLID SERVE: Rolleston’s Michael Hadfield had success winning his singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches on Saturday. • By Andrew King ROLLESTON BLACK beat Killinchy Silver 14-4 in the Ellesmere Malvern North Canterbury division one section two tennis competition. Rolleston claimed its second win of the season on Saturday with victories in the men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles games. It was even in the men’s singles games with Rolleston’s Michael Hadfield beating David Thompson and James Penny beating Tom McKenzie, while Killinchy’s Jason McKenzie beat Simon Lancaster and Luke Tanner took the honours against Terry Lee. In the women’s compeititon, Rolleston club president Zoe Gilmore, as well as Janine Logan- Stephens, Marika Templeman and Sophie Lancaster, all won their singles matches. The two men’s doubles teams from Rolleston made up of Hadfield and Simon Lancaster, and Lee and Penny, both won their matches. In the women’s doubles, Gilmore and Logan-Stephens, as well as Sophie Lancaster and Templeman, claimed victory. The shining light for Killinchy was the Southbridge fatherdaughter combination of Jason and Jessie McKenzie who won the mixed doubles against Gilmore and Lancaster. Killinchy’s Emma Johnson and Luke Tanner also won a mixed doubles match. Hadfield and Logan-Stephens, and Penny and Templeman, won the other two mixed doubles matches. Weekend draw Saturday at 1pm: •Springston v Rolleston Black at Springston •Courtenay v North Canterbury Blue at Courtenay •North Canterbury White v Killinchy Silver at Kaiapoi THREE FROM THREE: Rolleston’s James Penny beat Tom McKenzie in the men’s singles. FOREHAND: Rolleston’s Sophie Lancaster won her singles match against Maree Lemon and teamed up with Marika Templeman to win their doubles match.
