It’s designed to create a sense of community among all participants and help Yachad campers develop feelings of belonging and independence. What do we do in Yachad? • Provide a fun camp experience modified to the camper’s needs. • Provide additional trained support staff. • Improve social interactions and social skills among peers, and facilitate friendships. • Make accommodations as necessary by altering teaching methods without lowering standards. There will be no additional cost to enroll your child in Camp Romano’s Yachad Program provided our grant funding is renewed again this year. Is Yachad right for my child? Camp Romano offers children entering grades 1-6 a variety of adventurous and enriching programs which provide opportunities to establish lasting friendships and gain experience “by doing.” Our diverse Specialty Camps offer campers exciting new challenges and familiar favorites, while our Nitzanim Day Camp combines the spirit and energy of a comprehensive day camp program with weekly themes, field trips, occasional overnights and special events. Campers have the opportunity to attend our optional Thursday overnights for an additional fee when enrolled in weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8. And, boy, have we got lots of overnight fun in store! (See below schedule.) All overnights include dinner on Thursday as well as breakfast and lunch on Friday. Campers must be enrolled in a school-age camp the week of the overnight. 2018 tentative overnight schedule: WEEK 2 | Thursday, July 5 at the JCC Kick off the summer with an awesome overnight welcoming some fun creatures from The WILD! 315-445-2360 | www.jccsyr.org JCC Camp Romano School-Age Camps Children entering grades 1–6 Early and lATe care The regular camp day is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Morning extended care is from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and afternoon extended care is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Charges are $18 per week for either early or late care, and $36 per week for both. Note: Parents are responsible for transporting campers if extended care is used. Pre-camp paperwork The following paperwork must be submitted by June 18, or at least two weeks prior to the first day of camp: • Health and Examination Form Your child must have had a physical exam within the past two years. Please note that your child will be unable to attend camp without this completed form. • Trip Permission/Publicity Release • Waivers for specific specialty camps (where applicable). • Parent Handbook Please read; sign and return back cover form. • Medication Permission Authorization This form is needed if your child takes any regular or occasional medications (including over-the-counter) during the camp day. These forms will be mailed to you with the confirmation packets before camp begins. You may also download the forms from the JCC’s website www.jccsyr.org. Bus TransporTATIon Neighborhood bus transportation is included in school-age camp tuition fees. See the neighborhood bus routes at right for the stop nearest you, and indicate the stop on your registration form. Parents may drop off and pick up their children at the JCC, as transportation is not available in all areas. Transportation is not available for ECDP campers and school-age campers attending early and/or late care. Neighborhood bus stops We offer three routes—Syracuse/DeWitt, Manlius and Fayetteville—that provide neighborhood bus service for Nitzanim, Specialty Camps and SyraCruisin’. Please find the stop most convenient for you, and indicate it on your camper’s application form. We cannot accommodate door-to-door bus stops. Stops may be eliminated for lack of pick-ups. In the morning, the bus run begins at approximately 8 a.m. and arrives at the JCC by 8:55 a.m. The stops on the list farthest away from the JCC are picked up closer to 8 a.m., while the stops near the JCC are picked up closer to 8:55 a.m. and the start of the camp day. In the afternoon, the bus run begins shortly after 4 p.m. and is finished by approximately 4:45 p.m. The bus route runs in reverse at this time with the bus stops nearest to the JCC dropped off shortly after 4 p.m. while the stops farther from the JCC are dropped off closer to 4:45 p.m. Please note that pick-up and drop-off times may vary from week to week, with the gain or loss of other campers on the route. We will notify you the week prior to each session with the approximate pick up and drop off times. All routes end in the morning and begin in the afternoon at the JCC. Of course, you have the option of dropping off and/or picking up your camper(s). We will make every effort to keep the schedule running smoothly and on time.
