Anyone wishing to participate should gather items for sale and plan to set up in your garage or driveway on that date. Garage sales are not permitted on days other than those designated. HEARTHSTONE GARDEN CLUB NEWS I certainly have not enjoyed the “cold” weather and neither have some of my plants. Here we go again, FROZEN. My poor tropical varieties worked so hard to renew and come back, only to be hit again. I do believe it is time to rethink what I plant. Our tropical climate is really changing. The climate is not only changing here in Houston, but throughout the world. With all the devastation we are seeing throughout our area and the world, I can say we do have a climate change issue. Of course, many of us know these are only signs of the time. I do hope you did not suffer much damage from the cold and freezing temperatures we experienced recently. Just cut those precious plants back and they will grow. Makes me feel like we are back home in Oklahoma at times. Please take the time to protect your plants in the cold and don’t forget they do still need water, if we are not receiving any moisture. Just take care using your sprinkler systems in the frigid temps. Mulch is one of the best things you can do for your beds to help retain moisture for your plants. It will be warming up soon, so don’t lose hope and begin preparing for those warmer days ahead to get out and renew your beds and yards. Don’t forget to feed and water the birds, they are struggling to survive at this time of year, food sources can be somewhat rare. I guess we can’t forget our neighborhood squirrels, they are one of God’s creatures, but can certainly be pesky. HEARTHSTONE STREETLIGHTS The Hearthstone HOA coordinates maintenance of all the streetlights throughout the community. This includes the “cobra head” lights like you see along many streets and highways, as well as the decorative light poles along Huffmeister and in some of the neighborhoods. Cobra head streetlights need to be reported to CenterPoint, using the pole number, which is the “address” for the light. It is a six digit number facing the street. You can report streetlights that are not working or staying on during the day at (Google streetlight outage) or give us the pole number and we will do it for you. Outages or problems with decorative streetlights should be reported to PCMI at 281-870-0585. Please note the exact intersection or closest address. The association has a contractor doing a monthly nighttime inspection for lights that are out, but if you see a problem, please report it, so we can achieve our goal to keep all the lights on all the time. BOARD MEETING Board Meetings are now bi-monthly, usually on the 3 rd Wednesday at 7:00 PM. Hearthstone Country Club. LOST & FOUND PETS IN HEARTHSTONE Folks in Hearthstone are very helpful in getting lost pets reunited with their owners, but all dog owners should ensure that there is a tag on each dog with their name, address and phone number. Local pet stores have machines that make tags like this while you wait. At least that would help found dogs get back home quicker and with less trauma. WEBSITE Please visit the Association’s website. With a more attractive, easy to use design, the site contains a lot of useful information, including HOA news, quick reference numbers, free classifieds and a library of association forms and documents.
