CHILDREN’S EASTER FESTIVAL
Cornerstone United Methodist Church invites
and welcomes our community friends and
neighbors along with our own “Family of Faith”
to join us for our annual Children’s Easter Festival
on Saturday, March 31 st , from 9 to 10:30
AM. There will be games and activities for the
whole family including inflatables, crafts, face
painting, pictures with the Easter Bunny and
more. Of course, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt
for various age groups as well. Cornerstone UMC
practices being cheerful and generous givers. If
you are able, please bring a non-perishable food
item to be given to a local charity that provides
food to those in need our local community.
HOLY WEEK WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Holy Week represents the last week of Jesus’ life
on earth, beginning with his triumphant entry
into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and culminating
with his glorious resurrection from the dead the
following Sunday, Easter. This year Holy Week is
from Sunday, April 9 th through Sunday, April
16 th . During this week, Cornerstone United
Methodist Church will be offering a variety of
worship and fellowship opportunities. You are
invited to the following Holy Week worship
opportunities for young and old alike planned
at Cornerstone UMC:
PALM SUNDAY SERVICES (March 25 th ): At the 10:45
AM service, the children will lead a processional in
worship waving palm branches as we remember
and celebrate Jesus entry into Jerusalem. Also at
the 8:30 and 10:45 AM services, the Chancel Choir
accompanied by an orchestra will be performing
their Easter Cantata: “Once Upon a Tree!”. There will
be NO 9:35 AM service but there will be “Christian
Education for All Ages” at 9:30 AM.
MAUNDY THURSDAY COMMUNION SERVICE
(March 29 th ): The word Maundy literally means
“command,” reminding Christians that Jesus
commanded his followers at the Last Supper
to “do this in remembrance of me.” At 6:30 PM,
a Seder Meal hosted by Rev. David Rucker will
be celebrated in the Family Life Center. Holy
Communion will be served.
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE (March 30 th ): At 7 PM,
we will gather to commemorate the crucifixion
of our Lord with the Stations of the Cross and the
blackening of the sanctuary. Special music for
the service will be provided by the Chancel Choir.
EASTER SUNDAY MORNING SERVICES (April
1 st ): At 8:30 & 10:45 AM, we will have inspiring
services with the Chancel Choir and an accompanying
orchestra providing the special music.
At the 9:35 AM service, the Journey Praise Band
will lead the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
THE FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES
Cornerstone United Methodist Church will be
offering to the community a study on Gary
Chapman’s renown “The 5 Love Languages:
The Secret to Love That Lasts” starting on
Tuesday, April 10 th at 7-8:15 PM. This study
reveals how different people express love in
different ways and contains the key to understanding
each other’s unique needs. What
speaks love to you may be meaningless to
your spouse. Apply the right principles, learn
the right language and soon you’ll know the
profound satisfaction and joy of being able to
express your love and feel truly loved in return.
Each week the group will view a teaching by
Dr. Chapman and have the opportunity to
discuss the principles taught both in the small
group and with your spouse. Singles are also
welcome as there will be opportunity to apply
the teaching to relationships with children,
parents and other significant people in one’s
life. Classes will last for 75 minutes and a
nursery for preschool children will be available
by advanced reservation. Each participant
will need a small-group study book, which
can be purchased from the church. The cost
is $10 per book.
Note: Vacation Bible School will be
June 11 th -15 th .
ST. CUTHBERT CHURCH
St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church welcomes all
to come worship with us during Holy Week:
PALM SUNDAY, MARCH 25 TH : at 8 AM and 10:30
AM with Holy Communion and the Liturgy of
the Palms. Palm Sunday remembers Jesus’
triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
MAUNDY THURSDAY, MARCH 29 TH : at 7 PM
with Holy Communion and the Stripping of
the Altar. This service commemorates the
Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.
GOOD FRIDAY, MARCH 30 TH : at 9:30 AM we
will meet at Goforth Park, 9118 Wheat Cross
Drive, to walk the Stations of the Cross. During
this time, we will recall the series of events at
the end of Jesus’ life from his condemnation
to his burial. All ages are welcome. At 7 PM, at
the church, there will be a Good Friday Liturgy
with Communion from the reserve sacrament.
EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 1 ST : we invite everyone
to celebrate the risen Lord! Holy Communion
and baptisms at 8 AM and Holy Communion
at 10:30 AM. After each service there will
be an Easter Egg hunt for all children.

PEACE COMMUNITY CHURCH
Peace Community Church (located at 5151 Addicks
Satsuma Rd, Houston TX 77084) would
