Redesigned Orientation

Redesigned Orientation Room This season guests will walk from Admissions into the newly redesigned Orientation Room. This space will use text and bold graphics to answer the most frequently asked questions such as Who is Stan Hywet? and How much did it cost to build the estate? A timeline will run along one wall, providing a more detailed history of the Seiberling family’s life and their accomplishments. The television will be repositioned and show a short video orienting guests to Stan Hywet Hall and the Seiberling family. A removable wall scrim with an image of the Seiberlings’ chauffeur, Arlie Cross standing in the entrance to the garage (now Carriage House Auditorium) highlights the history of the Orientation Room, originally the car repair bay. This new and welcoming experience will prepare guests to get the most enjoyment from their visit. Stan Hywet honors the 83rd anniversary of the founding of AA during Founders’ Day Weekend, June 8-10 from 10am-4pm. Alcoholics Anonymous began as a conversation between Bill W. and Dr. Bob on Mother’s Day, 1935 in The Gate Lodge; it is an organization that Founders’ Day Weekend June 8-10 10 am-4 pm continues to benefit millions worldwide. On Saturday, June 9, there is a free shuttle to and from the University of Akron’s Polymer Circle near E.J. Thomas Hall for Founders’ Day Weekend activities at the university.
