I’m excited about the opportunity to lead this great organization and precious jewel of Akron into the future with its dedicated staff and volunteers. We are all so grateful for the transformative leadership of Linda Conrad the past nine years, and will be working to continue the progress made during her tenure. In that spirit, we are excited to begin a new season celebrating Health & Wellness, A Life Well Lived. The Seiberling family held health and wellness as a core belief in how they lived their lives, and shared those beliefs with the employees of Goodyear. These stories will be told with a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Seiberlings throughout the Manor House featuring a new exhibit titled Fads vs. Fixes. A new addition to the tour lineup this year is an abbreviated guided Youth Tour, sharing stories of life at Stan Hywet from the perspective of the Seiberlings’ youngest son, Franklin. Guests will be reminded of these beliefs through the stories of the family’s home remedies and prevention ideas utilizing methods of the time. Insight will be shared into how the estate was designed in a way that nurtured wellness including the Plunge, Bowling Lawn, sleeping porches, Lagoons, tennis courts and much more. This same philosophy has been enhanced by activity areas for guests of all ages to enjoy including Playgarden, Homes of Nature, Butterflies of North America, Questing / Geocaching and many more that entertain hundreds of thousands of guests. Adding to the activity mix this year is Yoga in the Garden, which takes place on the West Terrace. Please go to stanhywet.org to register. Stan Hywet’s incredible schedule of events will kick off March 31 with the Easter Egg Hunt. The Father’s Day Car Show continues its historic run (61 years) featuring “British Invasion,” a collection of rare automobiles from Great Britain. Be sure to bring your family and friends to experience all the fun this season has to offer. We look forward to providing a place to create memories and traditions to carry forward, as we continue the Seiberling legacy of sharing. Thank you so much for all of your support. Warmest regards, Sean M. Joyce President & Executive Director 2 STANHYWET.ORG
