Sbotolau ar... ...rieni sy’n dysgu Cymraeg Er mwyn taflu goleuni ar y rhieni sy’n dysgu/wedi dysgu Cymraeg dyma flas o’u profiad nhw. "Teimlaf mai’r ffordd orau i ddysgu Cymraeg yw ymarfer gyda ffrindiau, teulu a chydweithwyr a gofyn iddyn nhw fod yn amyneddgar gyda chi a chywiro unrhyw gamgymeriadau. Yn ystod ein gwyliau diweddar yn Sbaen bu fy mhlant sydd ym Ml1 a Bl3 yn ymarfer eu Cymraeg wrth y pwll. Hon oedd “Iaith Gyfrinachol Arbennig” y plant gan nad oedd siaradwyr Cymraeg eraill yno. Roedd yn brofiad da ac fe ddes i adref gyda’r Sbaeneg elfennol arferol ond hefyd gyda mwy o hyder yn y Gymraeg! Dros y Nadolig aethon ni i briodas yn Sir Benfro. Roedd y seremoni yn Gymraeg felly roedd gofyn i mi ganolbwyntio’n ofalus wrth wrando’n astud er mwyn deall popeth oedd yn cael ei ddweud!” Post Pencae Jennifer Kibbler Spotlight on… …parents learning Welsh In order to shine a light on the brilliant efforts of parents who are learning/have learned Welsh, here’s a flavour of their experiences. “I feel the best way to learn Welsh, is to get your friends, relatives and colleagues to only speak Welsh to you and ask them to be patient when you reply, but also to correct you if you make any mistakes. During a recent family holiday to Spain, both of my children in Year 1 & Year 3 practised their Welsh around the pool. They used it as their "Special Secret Language" because there were no other Welsh speakers around. It was a great exercise and I came home not only with the usual knowledge of basic Spanish but with more confidence in Welsh! Over Christmas we attended a family wedding in Pembrokeshire. The ceremony was in Welsh and I had to work hard to follow and understand all that was being said!” “Dechreuais gwrs nos yn Llundain ar ôl cael fy ysbrydoli gan fy mhartner sy’n Gymro Cymraeg. Ar ôl symud i Gaerdydd yn 2007 ro’n i’n lwcus i gael gwneud Cwrs Wlpan a chwrs pellach drwy’r gwaith ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd. Cawson ni wers bob bore’r wythnos o 8yb i 9.30 - ffordd grêt o ddysgu achos doedden ni ddim yn anghofio popeth o wers i wers. ‘Dwi wastad wedi ceisio siarad Cymraeg ‘da’r plant, er fy mod yn ffeindio hynny’n anodd i’w gynnal drwy’r amser (yn enwedig gan eu bod nhw’n tyfu lan a’u sgyrsiau’n dod yn fwy soffistigedig). Mae eu Cymraeg nhw’n gwella’n gloi ers dechrau yn yr ysgol; dwi’n disgwyl iddyn nhw fod ymhell ar y blaen i mi yn fuan! ‘Dwi wedi joio dysgu Cymraeg, a dwi’n joio defnyddio’r iaith. Uchafbwynt fy ngyrfa hyd yma oedd gwneud cyfweliad gyda BBC Cymru! Baswn i’n annog y rheiny sy’ eisiau dysgu i ffeindio cwrs cyfleus a ‘jyst rhoi go arni’! Mae wastad yn iawn i ddefnyddio gair Saesneg os ydych chi’n sownd! Annie Davies “I started to learn Welsh in London after being inspired by my partner who is a Welsh speaker. After moving to Wales in 2007 I was supported by my employer to do an Wlpan course and an Advanced course at Cardiff University. We had a 1.5 hour lesson every morning at 8am—a great way to learn as we retained our learning from lesson to lesson. I always try to speak Welsh with my children although I do find it’s more difficult to maintain (especially as their conversations are increasingly more sophisticated). Their Welsh is developing quickly since they started school and I expect I will be left behind soon! I’ve enjoyed learning Welsh and I enjoy using the language at work. The highlight of my career to date was doing an interview for BBC Cymru in Welsh! I would encourage those who want to learn to find a convenient course or tutor and just give it a go! It’s always ok to use an English word if you’re stuck for the Welsh!” Sefydliad elusennol corfforedig (SEC) | 1175972 | A charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
