MegaFuga Rustik Joint Filler With Rustic Appearance For Large Joint Gaps PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Cement based, elastic joint filler resistant to temperature changes, which is suitable for application to joint gaps, ranging between 4 to 20 mm, of ceramic, face tile and decorative coatings. AREAS OF USE MegaFuga Rustik is suitable for use on large joint gaps of natural stone and face tile coatings for decorative purposes, and on vertical and horizontal surfaces in indoors and outdoors spaces. PRODUCT ADVANTAGES • Has a rustic appearance. • Provides the structure with a natural and decorative appearance. • Poses reduced water absorption and high abrasion resistance thanks to the special additives in its content. • Resistant to water, frost and high temperature. PERFORMANCE High abrasion resistance ≤ 2000 mm 3 TS EN 12808 - 2 Bending strength after dry storage ≥ 2.5 N/mm 2 TS EN 12808 - 3 Bending strength after freezing - thawing cycles ≥ 2.5 N/mm 2 TS EN 12808 - 3 Compression strength after dry storage ≥ 15 N/mm 2 TS EN 12808 - 3 Compression strength after freezing - thawing cycles ≥ 15 N/mm 2 TS EN 12808 - 3 Contraction ≤ 3 mm/m TS EN 12808 - 4 Reduced water absorption after 30 minutes ≤ 5 gr TS EN 12808 - 5 Reduced water absorption after 240 minutes ≤ 10 gr TS EN 12808 - 5 The foregoing values represent the results of the laboratory tests conducted at 23 ± 2°C temperature and 50% ± 5 relative humidity conditions. The values provided as per the table may vary depending on the surface and ambient conditions. REFERENCE STANDARDS Certifications/Standards TS EN 13888/CG2WA QUALITY CERTIFICATES Conformant to TS EN 13888. • The product should not be applied to such surfaces, which are exposed to risk of freezing within the next 24 hours, which are frozen or the frost of which is thawing. • Due care should be taken to ensure that the material is not exposed to direct sunlight in hot weather conditions, and the product should be mixed with cold water. • The product should not be applied on extremely windy weather conditions or on hot surfaces, which are exposed to direct sunlight; and in the cases, where application is imperative under such conditions, the environment and the surface should be prepared for application in advance. • The product should not be applied in rainy weather conditions, and the application surface should be preserved from rain for a period of 24 hours. • Refer to our technical support hotline for recommendation on different surface applications. (PHONE: 444 4 595) Surface and Ambient Temperature The surface and ambient temperature should be between +5°C and +30°C whilst at application. Application Limits Useful time for prepared mortar - Pot life Drying time Opening the traffic The foregoing values represent the results of the laboratory tests conducted at 23 ± 2°C temperature and 50% ± 5 relative humidity conditions. The values provided as per the table may vary depending on the surface and ambient conditions. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Mixing Ratio The product should be mixed with water, weighing equal to 20 - 23 % of the product. (4.0 - 4.6 liters of water for a 20 kg package) Mixing Equipment • Low speed electrical mixer (400 cycles/min.) • Special tip stirring equipment Maximum 1.5 hours Minimum 12 hours 24 - 48 hours Mixing Period The product should be stirred with a low-speed mixer until any dry dust and globs are eliminated. The mortar should, then, be stirred once again for 1 to 2 minutes after being had settled for 5 to 10 minutes following preparation. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Application Surfaces Indoors Walls; - Ceramic - Natural stone Outdoors Walls; - Ceramic - Natural stone - Face tile Surface Preparation • The surface coating materials should have been bonded minimum 24 hours in advance. • Joint application should not be initiated before the adhesive is completely dehydrated. • Coating surface and joint gaps should have been cleaned and cleansed of oil, dirt and dust. • The joint gaps should be moisturized in order to maintain the fixed water absorption of vertical and horizontal parts. Application Equipment • Caulking (sealant) gun • Joint trowel • Scraper Equipment Cleaning The equipment used should be cleaned with water following the application before the joint filling mortar dries. TECHNICAL PROPERTIES Chemical Structure: Cement based joint filler with polymer additive Dry Density: 1.50 ± 0.05 gr/cm 3 Mortar Density: 1.95 ± 0.05 gr/cm 3 Grain Size: ≤ 600 µm Color: Beige, gray, cotto, black Temperature Resistance: -15°C to +80°C Application Methods • MegaFuga Rustik should be filled into joint gaps with a plastic or rubber based joint trowel or a caulking gun with due attention not to contaminate the surface of the coating material. • The residuary on the mortar’s surface should be scraped with a soft tip scraper or a scraper with moisturized sponge on the tip. In the case of the applications between face tiles, the surface of the joint filler should be shaped with a hand tool with round tip. • Surface smoothening should be performed before the product completely dries. Application Recommendations • Such cleaning supplies as bleach, hydrochloric acid and lime remover should not be used in order to ensure that the joint fillings are not damaged. The joint gaps are recommended to be cleaned with MegaClean. • The product should, once mixed, be used before the expiration of its pot life. Any product, the pot life of which has expired, should not be used during the application. • Any such foreign substance as lime, cement or plaster should not be added to the mortar prepared. • Any extra water should not be added to the mixture. • The product should not be applied on unsound surfaces. The soundness and the load bearing capacity of old surfaces should be checked prior to adhesion. • The surface should be preserved from air currents and water contact during and after the application. CONSUMPTION The consumption amount varies depending on the condition of the application surface and the coating material.
