EDITORIAL THE Spice Girls REUNITE The girl group meet to discuss ‘pop reunion no one thought would ever happen’ It’s time to hop on the Spice Bus again as the Spice Girls have reunited for the first time in six years. Victoria Beckham shared a picture of the moment on Instagram writing: ‘Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x.’ Emma Bunton also posted the snap, writing: ‘Great catch up with my girls! #bffs always the future is looking spicy!’ It was the first time all five women had been in the same room together since 2012, and they were all smiles as they cosied up together and appeared to confirm rumours that a reunion is on the cards. The former girl band reportedly got together to discuss reforming the group, with potential projects including a greatest hits album, endorsing products, hosting a TV talent show and working on TV shows in China. And, if the reunion does go ahead, it’s reported that the fivesome will each pocket £10 million! Geri Horner, 45, and Mel C, 44, were the first to arrive at the meeting, which is thought to have taken place at Geri’s Hertfordshire home. Next to arrive was Mel B, 42, who had jetted in from Los Angeles the day before. Paying tribute to her Scary Spice days, she carried a leopard print bag as she headed inside. Further fuel was added to the fire about the band’s plans to when their original manager Simon Fuller was also pictured arriving, while Emma, 42, was later seen leaving the house wearing a blue coat and carrying a Celine handbag. Victoria, who was not pictured arriving, has reportedly always been adamant that the group would never get back together, but it seems she may have changed her tune after years of reunion rumours. The designer, whose fashion firm lost £8.4m last year, is believed to have agreed to a reunion on the condition that she won’t have to sing and, according to insiders, the 43 year old and Geri are also said to be refusing to commit to a ‘fully-fledged tour’ due to family commitments. A source revealed: ‘This is the pop reunion no one thought would ever happen again. But after a long period of negotiation, Victoria agreed the time is right to work on new projects this year. It’s very exciting because she has always been adamant she wouldn’t go back.’ The group, who formed in 1994, last performed together at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, while in 2016 it was announced that Mel B, Geri and Emma would be reuniting as GEM. However, little materialised after some of their rumoured singles were leaked. Talking about trying to reunite the band, Geri said in October 2017: ‘I really pushed to get everyone back together. It got to the point where I had to let it go. I still love the girls and there are other bits and bobs in the pipeline.’ 16
