Houston & Killellan Kirk Carnival
THE BLUE PLANET
Saturday 12th May 12.30 pm at the Church West Halls.
This year the theme is hoping to encourage local awareness to
environmental issues. We need to be thinking about how we can teach
and learn about recycling, litter, avoiding waste of any kind and looking
after our environment for ourselves and the wildlife in our areas.
We will have many of our usual stalls, although we are not having a book
stall, soft goods or jewellery stall they are going to be replaced with
a nearly new clothes stall for under fives. Another new stall will be a Home
Produce ,preserves in glass jars etc., and Church Stall for information on
Church activities and organizations.
Three will be a performance area in front of the Carrick Centre where you
will be entertained by local artistes.
One of the most important parts of the Carnival is the parade and we
would like to see more groups becoming part of this. This is a fantastic
way of encouraging people to get involved in the community, get whatever
organization you are in dressed up and join in this once a year event. This
is an opportunity to show how you can help save the planet.
We are always looking for volunteers, home baking, home produce and
your support. Next months issue will give contact numbers for
uplifting goods.
