In honour of the centenary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth the orchestra will begin with the overture from Candide. Dvorák’s much loved 9th symphony, Op. 95 ‘From the New World’ will follow along with Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances, Op. 59. The orchestra will also be giving the debut performance of Summer Bummer from the Tartan Terrors – Three Orchestral Dances on the Highland Midge, Op. 23, a witty and playful piece by the orchestra’s very own Kester Clark. Conducted by Leon Reimer and led by Fiona Butcher, the orchestra will perform at Johnstone Town hall on Saturday 21st April at 7.30.
