Experience of a lifetime<br />
for Rotary Youth leaders<br />
FIVE young leaders enjoyed the “experience of a lifetime” at a Rotary<br />
Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program.<br />

At a recent Rotary meetin<br />
four of the five eaders<br />
attended and spoke of RYLA<br />
as a “wonderful experience”,<br />
hihihtin the vaue of the<br />
speaer sessions and ativities.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Rotary Youth Leadership<br />
Award is a transformational<br />
leadership program<br />
designed for young leaders,<br />
aged 18-27. Spanning<br />
over seven das the <br />
program combines some of<br />
ustraias finest speaers<br />
ith enain ativities and<br />
challenges. Participants of<br />
the program are sponsored<br />
by Rotary Clubs and the program<br />
is facilitated by pastparticipants<br />
of the program.<br />
<strong>The</strong> role which Ryde Rotary<br />
Club had in supporting<br />
RYLA <strong>2018</strong> included<br />
sponsorship, conducting<br />
partiipant intervies prior<br />
to RYLA, transporting the<br />
participants to and from the<br />
venue attendin the<br />
fora dinner vounteering<br />
at a leadership in<br />
risis ativit as part of the<br />
prora and invitin the<br />
participants to speak to the<br />
Club following RYLA.<br />
Three Ryde Rotary Club<br />
Rotarians also took on the<br />
roles of Chairperson, Treasurer<br />
and Registrar for the<br />
<strong>2018</strong> RYLA Rotary committee.<br />
One participant, JD, who<br />
primarily works remotely<br />
and doesn’t get the opportunity<br />
to talk to people<br />
of similar age, spoke of the<br />
new network of people he<br />
has gained from attending<br />
this Rotary sponsored youth<br />
program.<br />
