The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County has
announced the public phase of its Great Futures Campaign
to serve more youth, more often, with greater impact. The
Campaign centers around adding a Teen Center space for high
school students at the Memorial Park Boys & Girls Club, 3535
N. Western, sustaining the Club programs in three elementary
schools, enhanced programing at all four Club sites, and
broadening the footprint by adding a fifth Club site.
Campaign Co-Chairs Gene Rainbolt and Mark McCubbin have
announced that the campaign has reached 83% of its $7.8
million goal thanks to 100% of board giving and other generous
lead gifts from individuals and foundations. Initial gifts for the
Great Futures Campaign were made in memory of Aubrey K.
McClendon in recognition of his support of the Boys & Girls
Clubs and many other important causes in the community.
In announcing the public phase of the campaign, the cabinet
wants to encourage broad ranging community support.
YOUTH
OF THE
YEAR
2 0 1 8
Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Clubs’ signature
effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared
to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated
world economy. Each candidate is asked to prepare a
speech to give to a panel of judges made up of local
community leaders. After their speech, candidates take
time to answer questions from the judges. We had an
extremely talented group this year competing for the
title and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County
is proud to announce that our winner of this year’s
competition is Johnnie! We are thrilled to have Johnnie
serving as an ambassador for our club and eager to
watch him potentially compete at the state, regional and
national level. Please take a moment to learn more about
Johnnie and our other Youth of the Year candidates.
