Walks/Runs/Craft Shows/Festivals
will go toward the local nonprofit The Arc of Katy to help them rebuild
their facility that was destroyed during Hurricane Harvey. The Arc works
to create opportunities for all children and adults with intellectual
and developmental disabilities (IDD) to enable each person to be a
participating and respected member of our community. The run will take
place at Cinco Ranch High School on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8
AM to 11 AM. The event features the throwing and tossing of non-toxic
colored corn starch in the air in the beginning of the race and throughout

Local Charities Host
2nd Annual Katy Color Run
The 2 nd annual Katy Color Run will be held Saturday, April 7 th at Kingsland
Baptist Church. The color-filled run will consist of a 5K run and a 1K kids’
dash. The community event will also feature entertainment, food trucks
and vendors and a kids’ fun zone. Proceeds from the run will benefit local
nonprofit organizations: Christ Clinic, Clothed by Faith, Compassion Katy,
Hope Impacts and Katy Christian Ministries. The Ballard Foundation is the
title sponsor of the event. The benefiting nonprofits provided thousands
of people with medical, food, clothing and shelter needs after Hurricane
Harvey. Christ Clinic offers medical care to uninsured and underinsured
patients. Clothed by Faith gives gently used clothing to thousands of
Katy area residents in need. Compassion Katy’s connects churches,
businesses and nonprofits to provide solutions to meet the needs of
the community. Hope Impacts imparts hope to homeless and under
resourced people in the Katy area by connecting them to services and
resources. Katy Christian Ministries offers food and emergency financial
assistance to those in need and also offers many other resources to the
community including a domestic abuse center and a resale store. For

Color for a Cause 5k Color Run
The Katy community is invited to support Cinco Ranch Future Business
Leaders of America as they work to support The Arc of Katy by registering
for the Color for a Cause 5K color run. All of the earnings from this run

Nearly all children with 5p-Syndrome have poor muscle tone when they
are young. Other characteristics may include feeding difficulties, delays
in walking, hyperactivity, scoliosis and significant developmental delays.
A small number of children are born with serious organ defects and other
life threatening medical conditions, although most individuals with
5p- can anticipate a normal life expectancy. With early and consistent
educational intervention, as well as physical and language therapy,
children with 5p-Syndrome are capable of reaching their fullest potential
and can lead full and meaningful lives. Children born with this very rare
genetic defect will most likely require ongoing support for life, from a
team of parents, therapists, medical and educational professionals to
help the child achieve his or her maximum potential.
