The views justify the trip to Italy at Villa Machiavelli. Just 20 minutes outside Florence in the Chianti Classico region, the recently restored 16th-century villa combines splendid Renaissance architecture and interiors with 21st century luxuries, topped off with panoramic views of the countryside. The villa accommodates up to twenty guests, but larger groups can rent the separate vineyard villa for more space. You’ll feel like Italian nobility at the fully staffed villa, formerly the home of the Machiavelli and Mazzei families. Drive in or use the helipad and explore the vineyards, olive groves and forest on the estate. Work up a sweat in the gym and cool off in the outdoor pool. Private chef service can be arranged, but there’s also a fully equipped kitchen and wine cellar for your use. Each of Villa Machiavelli’s ten bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom and air conditioning. On the ground floor, two bedrooms have king beds, one bedroom has a double bed and the Machiavelli Suite has a king bed and jetted tub. On the second floor, there are five bedrooms, all with king beds; one of the rooms has a mezzanine area with an additional bedroom with king bed and en-suite bathroom. The upstairs bedrooms open to a large terrace with frescoes on one side and views of the Tuscan countryside on the other. During your stay, take time to sample the wine and olive oil produced on the estate. If you’d like to sample other regional flavors, head to the Santa Maria Novella train station, just a mile away. The museums and shopping of Florence are 15 miles away, or about 20 minutes by car, and the city’s airport is 13 miles away.
