20 MACHINERY UPDATE MARCH/APRIL 2018 www.machineryupdate.co.uk
New Machinery
Integrated solution for
seamless track & trace
Anew technology from
Romaco enabling the
implementation of
anti-counterfeiting devices
for cartons was on show at
this year’s Pharmapack in
Paris. The Promatic PTT
track & trace machine can
be flexibly configured and
integrated into new or existing
pharmaceutical secondary
packaging lines.
The Promatic PTT was
developed by Romaco as a new
platform for anti-counterfeiting
systems for carton
identification. The integration
of this track & trace machine
in a secondary packaging
line enables pharmaceutical
packaging to be tracked
seamlessly along the entire
supply chain. It can be either
implemented in a new line
configuration or retrofitted in an
existing one, depending on the
specification, and operates at
up to 400 cartons a minute.
Also, it makes no difference
whether the PTT module
is connected to a Promatic
continuous or intermittent
motion cartoner or to any
The Promatic PTT track & trace can be integrated into new or existing lines
third-party apparatus.
The servo-driven machine
works independently; it allows
synchronised operation of the
upstream and downstream
line components as well as
positive transfer of the cartons
by means of toothed belts.
Variable data and the
Pharmacode – either 2D Data
Matrix or a QR code – are
first printed on the side of the
packs which can then be read
optically and verified using
OCR/OCV.
Furthermore, a vignette
can be applied to the top of
the cartons in order to comply
with the regulations across a
range of countries. The flaps
at both ends of the cartons
can then be sealed with
security labels for even more
effective protection against
counterfeiting. Once again,
these tamper-evident features
are checked to confirm they
have been applied correctly.
An HMI has won
a prestigious design
award in Germany
Rovema has won an international
iF design award in the apps/
software category for its HMI
(Human Machine Interface) used
across its range of equipment.
The Rovema HMI is a
touch-optimised user interface
for the packaging machinery
manufacturer’s machines
and systems. The intuitive
application provides a uniform
design for all different machine
types and this reduced and
consistent design provides
a compact display of information
as well as allowing direct
communication of process values
to the operator.
The HMI won over the
international design awards
63-member jury, made up of
independent experts from all over
the world, with its user-centred
and process-oriented structure.
It beat off competition from
the 6,400 entries submitted
from 54 countries.
New business unit pools software and service expertise to
help connect the entire customer value chain, end to end
To support its customers in
connecting the entire value
chain, Bosch is pooling
its Industry 4.0 activities
including software and
services in a new operating
unit: Bosch Connected
Industry. This unit has
begun operations with
500 associates in Germany,
Hungary and China.
“We want to make the most
of the potential inherent in
connected industry, which
means we need to assemble
the best possible team,”
Helping companies on the road to total connectivity
says Bosch board of
management member
Dr Stefan Hartung, whose
responsibilities
include
manufacturing
coordinating
and, in turn,
Industry 4.0.
Bosch’s
Connected
Industry unit has
a clear objective:
to support
customers in
connecting the
value chain from end to end.
To this end, its portfolio of
software allows companies an
entry point into the connected
factory that is tailored to
their needs, from starter kits
and retrofit solutions to the
complete package. That means
that individual lines can be
combined, and factories and
plant networks, including
their internal and external
logistics, interconnected.
The aim is to assist
businesses and their
employees along the path to
a transparent, efficient, and
connected factory.
