SHIELD BEARER
RUNNING FOR HEARTS
5K FAMILY FUN RUN AND WALK
The Shield Bearer Running for Hearts 5K Family
Fun Run and Walk will take place on April 7,
2018, 7-11 AM, at Windwood Church at 10555
Spring Cypress Road in Houston, Texas. This
family friendly event will feature a 5K timed,
trail style run, a 1-mile family walk, games
for the kids, t-shirts, food, prizes and lots of
fun for all ages. Race registration is $25 for
adults (ages 14 and up) and $10 for children
(ages 13 and under) before March 20, 2018.

Proceeds for the event will fund services and
programs at Shield Bearer, a Houston based
501c3 nonprofit counseling and community
resource center that provides services on a
sliding scale. Shield Bearer has five locations
in Houston and serves individuals, couples
and families including those recovering from
the trauma of human trafficking, domestic
violence, crime, abuse, war and Hurricane
Harvey. Additional information about services

Join us Sunday, April 15, 2018 for Molly’s 2 nd
Annual Cajun Cook-off for a Cause benefiting
the Inspiring Hands Scholarship Fund for
individuals with financial and special needs.
The event will feature live music by SoulShine,
raffles, live auction and a Cajun Gumbo &
Crawfish cook-off with awards and prizes. Live
music will start at 2 PM, public tasting is from
2:30-4:30 PM and awards at 6 PM.

Tomball. The Grand Raffle will feature:
• Weekend at Galveston Beach House
• $500 Gift Certificate to the Golden Nugget

Nearly all children with 5p-Syndrome have
poor muscle tone when they are young. Other
characteristics may include feeding difficulties,
delays in walking, hyperactivity, scoliosis
and significant developmental delays. A small
number of children are born with serious organ
defects and other life threatening medical
conditions, although most individuals with 5pcan
anticipate a normal life expectancy. With
early and consistent educational intervention,
as well as physical and language therapy,
children with 5p-Syndrome are capable of
reaching their fullest potential and can lead
full and meaningful lives. Children born with
this very rare genetic defect will most likely
require ongoing support for life, from a team of
parents, therapists, medical and educational
professionals to help the child achieve his or
her maximum potential.
CAF HOUSTON WING’S WARBIRD
WEEKEND AND OPEN HOUSE
On Saturday and Sunday, April 14 th & 15 th
from10 AM until 5 PM, those big, old airplanes
with the mighty round engines will be flying
again as the Commemorative Air Force’s Houston
Wing presents its 2018 Warbird Weekend
and Open House at Hangar B-5, West Houston
Airport. Get up close and feel the prop wash
and hear the noise as radial engines power
these historic WWII aircraft. See some of the
old planes your father, grandfather or grandmother
learned to fly for World War II.
Admission is $15 per CAR at the gate or $10
per car if ticket is purchased in advance online
(check our website or facebook page for details)
and earns you a day of aircraft and military
vehicle displays, museum exhibits and fun.
Warbird rides will also be available for purchase.
Food, drinks, gifts and souvenirs will be
available. Come on out and honor America.
The Commemorative Air Force is a non-profit
national patriotic organization whose membership
includes people from all backgrounds
sharing an interest in aviation and history.

The West Houston Airport is located at 18000
Groschke Rd., 2 miles north of I-10 and between
Hwy. 6 and Barker Cypress, will be the
place to visit on Saturday and Sunday, April
14 th & 15 th from 10 AM until 5 PM.
CALLING ALL VENDORS!
The 2 nd Annual Mother’s Day Market & Car Show
presented by Cypress Springs FFA Booster Club
will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 between
9 AM-5 PM & Sunday, April 22, 2018 between
10 AM-4 PM. This event will be advertised in
various media outlets. We are also working
on entertainment and radio spots to generate
business and excitement this year. Indoor
booths are $110 and outdoor booths are $100.
All proceeds will benefit the Cypress Springs FFA
students in attending state convention, competitions
and creating scholarships for graduating
seniors. The event is held at the CFISD Exhibit
Center at 11206 Telge Road, Cypress, TX 77429,
