#1 GIVE YOURSELF
PLENTY OF TIME
The more time you give yourself to
plan, the better! Ideally, 2 to 3 months
is best for preparation time. This
allows for enough time to consult with
venues, and order details such as florals
arrangements to arrive in a timely
manner. It can take a few days venue
representatives to reply back especially
during busy seasons in the Spring and
Fall! This will also give you chance
to pick out an outfits, plan for hotel
stays, rental care etc. Plan to dry clean
your clothes at least 2-3 weeks prior to
the proposal date so that you don’t give
away any clues to the surprise!

#2 CHOOSE THE
RIGHT LOCATION
If you’re planning to propose at venue,
historical site, or even a park, it’s best
to check with the representative there
first. They may already be booked for
a special occasion or event that would
prevent you from proposing there on
certain dates. Even if it’s a public space
that has a special meaning to you, check
around to see if events are taking place
to avoid spoiling the moment for your
bride-to-be!

#3 TIMING OF THE
DAY IS KEY
These images will be framed, shared,
and cherished, so the lighting has to be
right! It makes a world of a difference
in images. If you are planning on
proposing outdoors, plan it during the
Golden Hour! This is one hour before
sunset or one hour after sunrise.
This time of the day makes for incredibly
romantic and dreamy images! That’s
when the beautiful glow shows up in the
images!
Don’t forget to take in account for
Daylight Savings depending on the time
of year you are proposing.

#3 SECURE ANY
PERMITS AND FEES
Many venues, historic sites and national
parks require a permit and/or additional
fees for photography. Often times there
is a process and they can take up to 2-3
weeks to secure.
We cannot stress enough how important
this part is! In some cases, photographers
and couples were asked to leave in the
midst of shooting for not having the
proper paperwork in place. This would
just kill the moment! It’s best to avoid
any awkward situations by double check
with the location you have in mind. If
you have any questions on whether or
not a location needs a permit, reach out

#5 DETAILS YOU
MIGHT NOT KNOW
One of the things that will help pull
off the perfect proposal is keeping in
mind where crowds will be. At historic
sites, main entrances are high traffic
areas and certain times of day, there is
higher traffic of crowds. The background
is important too. Are there cars
or
construction showing up? If you are
planning a destination proposal, you’ll
want an idea of what the location will
look like. And if you’re looking for
a way to hide the ring, look for flat
ring boxes that are easier to conceal in
pockets, socks or even a coat! If you
need a recommendation, we’ll send over
