COLLINSON CUSTOM BUILDING presents KINGSTON FRONTENACS GAMEDAY REPORT vs KINGSTON LOOKS FOR A BOOST ON HOME ICE AFTER TWO TOUGH ROAD LOSSES, FRONTS NEED WINS AT HOME TO EVEN THE SERIES Kingston played a couple of solid road playoff games, but the Barrie Colts came away with two wins in games one and two of the series. On Wednesday night, Jason Willms scored 1:58 into overtime to give the Colts a win in the opener of the series. In game two Barrie scored three third period goals to earn a 4-1 victory for a 2-0 series lead. The Colts are showing that they have three solid scoring lines. Ryan Suzuki and Zachary Magwood have both been impressive in the series. The Frontenacs did a great job against the top line for the Colts in game two. Luchuk and Sokolov were both held off the scoresheet, and Svechnikov didn’t score until the final two minutes. The Kingston power play went 2/2 in game one, but 0/4 in game two, although it wasn’t for a lack of effort. Kingston suffered a tough loss when Ted Nichol was ejected for a hit from behind on Jaden Peca in game two. With Kingston only dressing 11 forwards, the loss of Nichol early in the game made life tough on the remaining 10 forwards. Much like Kingston, Barrie played well against the top offensive unit of the Frontenacs. Nyman, Vilardi, and Pu were all held pointless in game two. Leo Lazarev had a very strong game two after a bit of a shaky opener in the series. Kingston will look to take advantage of having the last change on home ice to try and create some space for their big guns. Gabe Vilardi and Linus Nyman have been held to one point in the series, so Jay Varady will try to utilize his ability to pick the match ups he wants to get his top scorers more active on the scoresheet. Kingston won their only other 6 PM start time on home ice. That came in game two against North Bay in the first round of the playoffs.
