Chapter 14 Changes April

Chapter 14 Changes April coped well looking after the elderly lady, Margret called in whenever she had the chance, she knew April was doing a good job and knew that she had made the right decision asking April to help. April sometimes found the time to help Mrs James collect the farm eggs and pluck the chickens. Eventually Mrs James had a baby girl, all went well she named the baby Sue. May came to see April, she told her she has met a nice young man named Lou but that they could not see each other much because they lived quite far away from each other, so April told both May and Lou to meet at her home once for tea in the week, and once on a Saturday. And so, they did, they all got on very well together. They all went out together on pick-nicks and their favourite place was Newstead Abby, they also loved the humps and hollows it was a lovely walk and they would call for a drink on the way back. During tea one day at Aprils home, Lou asked May to marry him of course she said yes, they arranged a date. April said that they could have a

party at their house after the wedding. 68 Some days later April went to the elderly lady’s room to take her breakfast as usual. When she entered the room, she found that she had passed away in her sleep. This upset April very much and informed Margret straight away. A few weeks later when all was sorted after the burial, Margret asked to speak to April. April had been worrying about her family’s future and where they would live, thinking, ‘we have no home now’, she was worried. Margret had told April that after discussing it with the rest of the family they had all decided that as April had been doing such a good job with the housekeeping and looking after their mother in the past that they would allow April and her family to continue living in the house for a small rent. Both April and William were pleased by this and was glad that Roy could continue to grow in the house. It also lifted the worry that they were both feeling as now they knew that they had a safe home to live in.
