Chapter 15 Coronation Day 74 Patsy was now 18 months old. And everyone was waiting for the Queen’s Coronation day 1953. One of April’s friends named Dawn was having trouble with her television, so she asked William if he could fix it, he said he would try. Televisions were new to everyone and not many people had one; Dawn was the first on her street. William was taking some time to study it, so Dawn said you can keep it as her husband had bought a new one so that she could watch the Queen’s Coronation. William offered to pay but Dawn said no it’s ok if you can mend it, it’s yours. Eventually he did mend it and they all managed to see the Queen’s Coronation on their small television. Mrs James came around; May and Lou came to stay over too, and everyone was happy. They all had a party later in the church hall. William made the small cellar into a dark room as he enjoyed photography and he achieved many a nice picture and experimented with colour, because at this time colour was experimental.
