If we dont have a firm grasp on who we are, and to whom we belong, then it becomes a major issue which causes us to become vulnerable to the lies of the enemy. This is why many of us live our lives trying to please others, so that we may be accepted and validated. Its because we are trying to find ourselves and in the process we get lost even more. What we are trying to search for is our identity and the confidence from knowing who we really are but unknowingly, we search for it in the wrong places. In John 146 Jesus says; I am the way, the truth, and the life. Getting saved is not enough, neither is attending services every Sunday or weekday but having a personal relationship with Jesus. It is and must be the starting point. Your relationship with Jesus matters above everything else. The ability to believe in the word of God and what He says about you is closely related to how well you know Him. If He is a stranger to you or you only have a casual relationship with Him, then its going to be hard on your part to believe what He says about you.
