It has to become an important destination for tourists and a symbol for the city. An integral plan has been designed that connects Tähtitorninvuori Park with Eteläsatama Harbor and gives a boost to the historic city and Kauppatori market. The museum design consists of sculptural volumes that are inspired by the Finnish identity and design. It emphasizes the strong reference to the context by combining a maritime setting with the usage of local materials and colors. An impressive atrium provides the connection between the park and the harbor, but also welcomes visitors. This lively place forms the heart of the museum and offers great views to her surroundings. The exhibition spaces are positioned in a flexible way and surprising sight lines to the waterfront, the city and Park are present. A combination of ramps, staircases, voids and free formed exhibition areas results in a dynamic and sensational routing. ‘Guggenheim Museum Helsinki’ “Scandinavian elegance”
