2018 April Costa del Sol, S.L. Newsletter A clear mind I once visited a well-known clairvoyant who told me that my brain would always remain razor-sharp. Obviously, I was delighted to hear this. However, when my son recently recited some calculative analysis, I must admit that my “razor-sharp mind” could do a with some sharpening. By Anni Dahms Owner of the retail chain ANNI’s VITAL SHOP. The brain is built up of roughly 100 billion nerve cells and weighs 1 – 2 kilograms. On the 10th of March, 2018, there was a reference in the Jotland Post to an article from Videnskab.dk, which stated that we stop producing new brain cells after our teenage years. It was an American study on human brain tissue from 59 people showing the above mentioned. It has been heavily debated among neuroscientists, whether humans continue to produce nerve cells throughout their entire life. However, studies like the above-mentioned propose that we stop at an early age. Other professors and researchers are of the opinion, that more studies need to be conducted, before it can be proven, as there have also been many studies that suggests that nerve cell production is present in adults. Whether we continue to produce nerve cells or not, we can still see our brain as a databank that we must take good care of, so it will remain sharp our entire life. We must protect our brains and the brains of our children. The brain is our most important operating system. Another recent article from the Jotland Post, cited a professor whom stated that there are 12 everyday chemicals that can affect children’s ability to learn, their education, and their future job opportunities. The professor also warned, that this was only the tip of the iceberg. He said, that in 30 years’ time, we might have to sit down with our children and explain to them why it may not have worked out so well for them, as it could have. We might have to explain that they have lost a significant amount of brain cells, which has impaired their ability to concentrate and their memory. We might have to explain that there was a great cost to how modern science has enabled us to increase productivity of our food. There are plenty of freighting statistics that beg us to evaluate our lifestyles, and make sure that we treat our brains kindly. There are many things you can be conscious of when it comes to keeping a sharp mind, besides a healthy and clean diet, with the right supplements. www.annivitalshop.com 1
