I once visited a well-known clairvoyant who told me that my brain would always remain razor-sharp. Obviously, I was delighted to hear this. However, when my son recently recited some calculative analysis, I must admit that my “razor-sharp mind” could do a with some sharpening.
You may notice a positive effect by visualizing and telling yourself, that you have an excellent memory. I meet too many people who say, “I can never remember anything”. Your subconscious listens to everything you say, and words like these can start a chain reaction. Believe in your memory and decide instead to help it all that you can. The diet To prevent decay, and make your brain work as hard as possible, you must feed it with clean and nutritious foods. This applies to everything you put in your mouth, even your toothpaste, which can contain a myriad of harmful substances. Make sure to eat good, healthy, and plenty of antioxidants from, for instance, spinach and broccoli. Your brain will love you for eating those vegetables every day. It oxidizes the brain and provides you with a vast amount of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Also make sure to eat plenty of berries, especially blueberries and preferably the wild ones. Other berries are also healthy for the brain, such as ecological goji berry, blackberry, and raspberry. They increase your memory, your ability to learn, and prevents atherosclerosis. Make sure that you get plenty of omega-3 acids, from fatty fish, oil from algae, linseed, and many other sources. Fish contains an abundance of omega-3 fatty acids, which are necessary for a well-functioning brain. Fish also contains vitamin-D, selenium, and iodine. Many people fear eating fish, because they are afraid of mercury poisoning, but recent studies show that the selenium found in the fish, mostly neutralizes and binds any mercury that the fish might contain. Make sure to stabilize your blood sugar as good as you can. This is best done by eating smaller meals 6 - 5 times throughout the day. Studies have also shown that cocoa is good for the brain. An American study showed that cocoa beans prevents aging of the human brain, which can help you keep sharp as you get older. Be careful with alcohol. Alcohol is an organic solvent, which is transported into the nerve cells. The most delicate and active brain cells are the first to die. Memory can be affected by large quantities of alcohol, so new memories won’t register. Many elderly seem to benefit from a single glass of wine, though. There have been studies that show that a glass of wine, four times a week, supports your thinking ability, while those who drink more than 10 drinks weekly, did worse than those who didn’t drink alcohol at all. Enjoy your ecological eggs. It’s excellent brain food with lots of great proteins, they provide good nutrition and a feeling of fullness, whilst at the same time stabilizing your blood sugar. Egg contains choline, which increases memory, the ability to concentrate, and even the brain’s overall performance. Be sure to eat nuts, especially brazil nuts and walnuts. Also use plenty of garlic in your everyday cooking. Make sure to eat foods that contain lactic acid bacteria, for instance yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut. It can also be good to drink a couple of cups of green tea every day. Obviously, the ecological kind without unnecessary pesticides. The tea sharpens your attention span and combats dementia and Alzheimer’s. 2 www.annisvitalshop.com Dietary supplements From what I’ve experienced, and read throughout many years, I am amazed that everyone doesn’t make sure to get their vitamins, minerals, and different antioxidants on a daily basis, in order to keep the brain well-functioning and sharp. There are many different dietary supplements, that can aid your brain’s functioning, whether you are young, old, or in-between.
• Make sure to have a base of a good multivitamin/mineral product. Supplements in the right amount, strengthens both the brains of children and adults. • Omega-3 fatty acids help your brain, partly by promoting wellbeing, and partly by improving the brain’s ability to function. • An extra supplement of a vitamin-B complex has brain-strengthening capabilities. Make sure that the supplements contain sufficient folic acid. It’s important that the brain is working properly; especially with the elderly. Researchers announced, in the end of the 90s, that folic acid can restore the ability to remember in older brains. It is best to take folic acid together with vitamin B12. 400 micrograms of folic acid, daily, is often sufficient. Make sure that your complex vitamin-B also contains choline. This, too, aids memory. • Vitamin-E is a power antioxidant, which have earned many nicknames such as “the youth vitamin” or “super brain pill”. The vitamin can, among other things, eliminate free radicals. • It can be smart to take an extra vitamin-C. Vitamin-C can pass through the blood – brain barrier and is seen more and more as an agent in the defense against mental fatigue. • You might be able to increase your wellbeing with selenium. Vitamin-E works especially good with selenium. • In Professor Lester Parker’s book “The Antioxidant Miracle”, he wrote about alfa-lipol-acid, and about how it might be the most effective antioxidant that we have knowledge of. It is considered that the lipol-acid can strengthen the memory and rejuvenate certain receptors that improve the transference of signals throughout the brain. • Q-10 has countless functions. It’s especially known for activating your heart and brain, and works well with vitamin-E. If you feel that your brain cells are a bit sluggish, give them some Q-10. • One of the most thoroughly tested products that aid your ability to concentrate and your memory is Ginkgo Biloba, which is an extract from the maidenhair tree. On many levels it has shown to be an amazing product for our brain functions. If you are taking blood thinning medication, consult with a physician before taking Ginkgo Biloba. • Phosphoserine, which is extracted from lecithin, can easily move through the blood-brain barrier and is my personal favorite when it comes to memory improvement products. • Huperzine-A, is a plant extract from the Chinese club moss-hupierza serrata . In China, the remedy has been used for hundreds of years to rejuvenate the ability of remembering for the elderly. • Research is still being done on this remedy. Some researchers believe it shouldn’t be used to strengthen normal memory, but rather should be used to treat Alzheimer’s disease. • Tips There are many small things you can do daily, to become more conscious of your brain. • Take a walk or dance freely to the music you like. This will activate your brain and release happiness hormones, such as dopamine and serotonin. All of this whilst you reduce the stress hormone, cortisol. • Meditation can also increase your psychological balance and strength. • Overweight is not good for your brain. If you are overweight look at the amount and the quality of your food and make corrections where needed. • The utmost important thing to remember is to keep your brain active and never think that you are too old to do something. I recently read about a man whom, at age 101, started to learn the violin. I listened to him play, and it was impressive for a newbie. • Make sure to stimulate your brain and that you have a clean and healthy diet. Get plenty of exercise. And great laughs with people of all ages. FREE SHIPPING! Get free shipping within Europe when you buy for 80€ or above!
